-- tonearm moves to the right

tonearm suspension makes tonearm move to the right

How do I stop my tonearm from moving to the right all the way to the resting position?
It's balanced and anti-skate is 0
ok, right now its IMPOSSIBLE to balance, if i move the weight all the way in, it's still heavier on the stylus, and if i move the tonearm to the left of the middle a bit it will move all the way to the resting position

the thing on that EXCEPT the one on the left

theres a screw on the left side of the tonearm suspension thats STUCK in

Posted by mndeg on Jun-10-2004 12:18:

so I need a whole new tonearm unit?
because its impossible to get out, the last time i brought a mk5 to a repair place they said they couldnt get it out

antiskate is not mean to be on 0 but about the same as your counter weight. if you havea blank record put it on and place the needle on it then fiddle until it doesnt go in or out.

if your scratching but leave the anti skate on 0 some people think it helps stop the needle from skipping but of course it cuts into the record more

ok i heard about this.

Ur tonearm u treat badly/have knocked it (dont say u havent)

there will be a little groove dug into the resting place (not a lot u can do i hear) and it will always pull out from the vinyl now

SPEWIN for you, i hope you can fix it, if u can post on here HOW!

Posted by mndeg on Jun-10-2004 15:55:

i didnt, i just got it and it was like that (used on ebay)
I got the other one set up perfectly

Posted by mndeg on Jun-10-2004 15:56:

oiling huh
I'll try it

Posted by opianstate on Jun-10-2004 16:16:

I have this same problem but not as pronounced . . . I noticed it when I was zeroing the counterbalance weights . . . the tonearm drifts back to resting position.

The other screw vaguely hints at adjusting a screw . . . which one? the one on the very top of the pivot?

Posted by mndeg on Jun-10-2004 19:01:

the one on the side
left side when TT set to standard position

I still can't get it out

Posted by mndeg on Jun-10-2004 22:14:

bump anyone know?

Posted by opianstate on Jun-10-2004 22:18:

Wait did you mean adjusting the left screw . . . or were you just saying that was the one that was stuck? Anybody have a link to Technics manual in PDF form . . . ?

Posted by Boomer187 on Jun-11-2004 00:18:

is the screw stuck or just like rusted in there?

try spraying some pb blaster on it or soem wd-40, that stuff climbs in and frees screws. But if you had others look at it they must have tried the samething.

Posted by mndeg on Jun-11-2004 01:30:

already tried wd40, had this problem with a mk5 already

i dont think its rusted because rust requires moisture and lots of time lol

Posted by mndeg on Jun-11-2004 02:45:

i can try to turn it with both hands and it wont move, all the other screws move easily

Posted by mndeg on Jun-16-2004 05:10:

up

Posted by krayzie on Jun-16-2004 05:52:

try and get a refund from the ebay seller

Posted by mndeg on Jun-16-2004 06:27:

i read a technics faq i think it was the manual, there was nothing on it about tonearm drifting
