Laptop USB Audio Advice

Bit of advice needed please.....

I use cubase sx mainly just for midi on my laptop, using external synth, sampler and drum machine.
I want to do more sampling within my laptop so am considering a USB audio solution. Only need one set of stereo inputs (from my AUX outputs on the mixer) and one set of outputs to go to a stereo channel on the desk.
At the moment (using laptops internal soundcard (urg)) I get monster latency and when getting a few audio channels wokring at once it sounds loike I'm in the Rice Crispies factory.
Reducing the latency would be nice but as long as it can playback without popping and crackling I'd be happy....
Cost is a major consideration as I've got about 100 ish to spend.
I was thinking about the M-Audio Audiophile USB but not got much knowledge in this area and was after some suggestions??.

Cheers
Dave

I've heard some average reports about the USB version of the Audiophile, not sure whether they are true or not though.

Yeah been reading some not too nice things regarding m-audio drivers etc...

thinking that the Echo Indigo IO actually fits what I want exactly.

That looks pretty good. Does anyone know if that box at the end of the PCMCIA card sticks out of the lappy, or does it go inside it as well?

EDIT: found a pic and does stick out
