I Need Everyones advice!!!

I am currentley debating between the sony v700dj headphones and the pioneer hdj-1000 headphones. Which do you think is better and why? This can really help me, so please be honest and if you recomend another pair that i have not listed then please tell me.

I have the HDJ1000s, and I have no complaints at all. Very clear sound, tight bass, comfortable. My ears get hot though after a couple hours of wearing them, just because it's an enclosed space. Apart from that, all the debates about these 2 headphones leads to the HDJs on top.

I have the Sonys and I am fine with them. They have lasted me 2 years and are barely starting to show any signs of aging. People can babble on about real/fake bass reproduction and whatnot, but either one is a safe choice.

Do not purchase the Sony's. I had them, I took the finest care of them, yet they broke after a year of in-home use. The little swiveling joint began to snap. Then the right channel just up an died, no warning at all. Then the swivel joint completely snapped, leaving the cup just dangling by the wire. Pieces of shit.

I have to agree with him though. I owned some MDR-V700's and they broke. You see, what joins the cups w/ the headset is a plastic cap that can be ripped from day one if you stretch ur headphones too much by mistake. They lasted me 2-years, which I think is an ok lifetime for some headphones, so i wasn't that pissed off when they broke, but I wouldn't recommend them. Besides... they're a bit heavy and curly wire keeps on coiling. I currenty own some Technics RP-1200 and I love them. Simple, smaller cup, therefore lighter, and stronger built! They also feel more comfortable when DJing.
PS. If you like the silver finish better, then go with the Technics RP-1200A.

Hey... I have used the V700's and I can personally say that I don't like them... They are loud.. but big and heavy.. uncomfortable for me.. They are too big for my head... I personally own the MDR-V500's... more compact, great sound (I think), lighter, and I wear them everyone.. DJing, goin to school (meaning they end up in my backpack getting bumped around) so they are solid headphones I think.. they might not be loud enuf for club use... I have only had one chance to play on a club system and that one nite they were having problems with the system so I didn't get very long to see how they are...

yeah i have to agree w/ bluu. I've owned a pair of sonys as well and mine lasted a little over a year until they broke. The sound quality btw on sony's was muddy and boomy. IMHO the Sennheiser hd280 are the best sounding for the $$$, but the headband will crack; however the headphones are still usable unlike the v700.

As for the hdj1000, i personally don't think the sound quality is that good, they seem to lack the stereo imaging found on the hd280 or even the technics rp-dj1200. Another thing to bicker about both the sony v700 and pioneers, the headband feels like a vice if you leave the headphones on your head for more than 20minutes. For comfort, my favorite among dj headphones is still the sennheiser hd280.

Among all of the dj headphones my favorites are in order:
Sennheiser HD-25
Sennheiser HD-280Pro
Technics Rp-dj1200
Sony mdr-v900
Sony mdr-v7506
Pioneer hdj-1000

Least favorites:
sony mdr-v700, v500
all stanton headphones,
all numark phones,

I've not had a single problem with the Sonys. Plus they've fixed the fault with that little swivel joint. A lot sturdier now. And I personally prefer a heavier set of headphones. Feels a lot more like you're doing something.

Plus they look cool!

Sonys sound better.Techniques make good tables and cd players but thats about it.I say find the sonys you want to buy they have different ones for different price ranges and styles.There is a reason everyone uses em and saying anything else is a better buy is like saying "millions of people are wrong and I am right"
For headphones go sony for tables techniques for mixers go pioneer for monitors go mackie and so forth and so forth.

Im sorry but i really don't like the sound quality of the sonys. Technics are not the best sounding dj headphones, but i perfer using them b/c of how they swivel and they're not as big as pioneers or sennheisers. For monitoring, djing, and recording i perfer sennheisers.

both are crap when it comes to construction quality m8. I owned both of them and they both broke, if I had my digi cam I would show you what's left of my Sony's. The pioneers broke after 3 months of use and luckly the store let me return them back.

The Sennheiser HD-25 headphones sound really good, the only thing is you have to keep playing music at a soft volume through them for about two weeks to really break them in and get the full effect.

dj chex has a good list to go by. You should do your research and go to a store to try them out on you head, see which feels more comfortable and fit YOU the best.

Pioneer Pro HDJ1000
Technics RP-DH1200(new for 2004)
Sennheiser Pro HD280

FYI!

If you buy a pair of headphones use them for a few days and decide to exchange them, most shops will NOT take them back due to Local and Federal Health and Safety Codes(Laws). So take your time in deciding for yourself which ones will be more comfortable to you, which ones fit you well, cause they have to be comfortable on your head and ears, and which pair of headphones perform to your liking.
