so....how about those pistons?

no one still gives them a chance in hell to win this series even after they smoked LA by 20 points last night. they have dominated every game and should be up 3-0. pistons in 6.

DETROIT WHAT

GO PISTONS!!! I hate basketball with a passion but I hate seeing those damn laker flags on everyone's cars even more. I can't wait until Detroit kills LA so i don't have to put up with all these Laker crazed idiots who only come out of the woodwork until playoff time.

GO DETROIT!!!!!!!!!

Not 1 superstar on the pistons, just 5 playing as 1 with amazing defense. Great D=championship.

My favorite team is the sacramento kings
my second favorite team is whoever is playing against the lakers

Fuck the lakers
Detroit all the way

Posted by MisterOpus1 on Jun-11-2004 17:58:

I've always been a Laker fan. Of course I was a much bigger fan back in the 80's when they'd have their epic battles with Bird and the Celtics, but I still cheer for them.

This year's a little different, though. As a KU Alum, how can I not cheer for the former B-Ball coach from my Alma mater who brought us an NCAA championship? That defense you see is classic Brown-stifling defense, and it's fantastic to see when everyone plays it correctly. The Pistons look incredibly strong, and I really don't see how the Lakers can avoid self-implosion this time around. To be honest, I'm impressed that Kobe, Shaq, and the rest haven't completely melted down yet (though it's been pretty close).

I hope Detroit finishes this series without going back to LA. I guess we get to see how Phil Jackson can recover from this one (if he can).

ha, Detroit is an outstanding team when their shooting is on. They can hold other teams down, I mean the lakers couldn't even get 70 pts....

I wish I was back in detroit for this though....

Posted by torontotrance on Jun-11-2004 19:25:

but the series is 2-1 and last time I checked, you had to win 4 to win the series (not that I care who wins)

exactly if the lakers take hte next 3 then their golden!

Posted by torontotrance on Jun-11-2004 19:50:

See you have to win 4 to claim the series and a 2-1 lead means nada, not that I care who wins. First one to four, series goes 6 at least unless the Lakers emplode (like Kobe's out of a groove game 3 :haha

Regardless of who wins, they will be refered to as World Champions. What kind of shit is that? They only play in Canada and The States. How does this in any way justify the title "World Champs"?

Because the greatest players from around the world seek to play in the NBA.

Posted by Ben_Diesel on Jun-11-2004 21:41:

But do they play around the world? In order to be a world champion in anything, you must compete against a fair amount of teams representating the entire world. It doesn't count if the organization you play in has people from all different parts of the world. In many people's eye's you can consider America to be that.

Black and white, you need to play the teams which represent the countries from different parts of the world. The NBA doesn't, they are not world champions.

And why? Cause of the money, that's why.
If it's in USA doesn't mean it's the best in the world

isn't that what the olympics is about?

because atheletes from around the world play in it, and no euro/asian/african league can step up to the nba.

In other words, no league can pay the athletes the amount of money that the NBA pays them, and by the way Yugoslavia (a 3rd world country mind you) has won more world basketball championships than any other country in the world

Posted by Ben_Diesel on Jun-11-2004 21:46:

The Olympic Team that shit stomped the rest of the world are world champs because they went through the steps to get there. The Lakers or whoever wins this year did not and are not.

Just because you smoke crack with them best of them doesn't mean that if you smoke more crack than them in one sitting that you're the world champ at it.

is the world championships all amateurs? i know they did this like in the late 70's 80's.

btw what kind of crack are you smoking ben diesel?

No it wasn't the amateurs. It was the pro team. Proves that while USA may be the richest country in the world, it doesn't mean jack shit when it comes to sports. Take a look at MLB: what kind of a team has won the last 3 world series? It certanly wasn't the money-hungry Yankees (who have a payroll bigger than some countries have collateral).
