Drunk Review - Cor Fijneman at Viva

It's 4:30 and I just got home...had to leave early due to a personal obligation later on today
Cor is still on the decks as we speak tearing and ripping the place apart

I think there is only one thing that can perfectly describe how I felt about Cor's performance tonight...

For those that weren't there all I can say is that it's a BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG loss on your side.

I would have to say though that the crowd was quite disapoining...the usual sketchy Viva oriental crowd was present but the club was probabbly only half full, and most of these people were in a world of their own or just standing in one spot...bizzzzare...
Not to worry however, TOTA represented us proper!
Meeting Cor before the set was definitely a huge highlight, what a great guy
Have some pics to show but I ran out of webspace so if anyone wants ho host them for a but let me know and we'll work it out later today
Must have nap now after 2 insane nights of BlackHole!

Shout outs to all the mad TAs I met today

jsut got home

it was a great first time

thx to resnick for the ride

the crowd was...lets just say most were standing around

but u could clearly tell which ppl were TOTAs

it was nice meeting and seeing all of you!

the music was great i loved every part of it and so did my freind

now, off to bed

Cor was fucking amazing!!! Track after track of insane hard trance and I was in heaven. Banging tunes being pumped out of Viva's awesome sound system along with plenty of room to bust a move, couldn't have asked for a better night. The TAs as usual kept the party alive. Big shout-out to all of ya!!

Woah... uber tunes...

Now I'm not trying to start a war here - so read what I write CAREFULLY!

Personally I enjoyed Friday night (Cor Fijneman) more than Thursday night (Tiesto). Reason #1: More room to dance. Reason #2: Temperature was kept under 30 deg C. Reason #3 (and the most important one): Cor's programming/set list was more in line with my own trance preference (melodic, uplifting).

I'll write more later when I recover from the 36-hour birthday bash.

Cor was much better than Tiesto IMO.

Again, im not a huge trance fan (but i can appreciate the good stuff) but Cor had much more happening with his music than Tiesto ever did (at a fraction of the price) He seemed like a nice guy too!

man, I'm still exhausted.

another massive night at Viva!

will do full review when I return to C-town.

or I'll just do it now!!!

First, shouts to everyone I saw... you guys know who you are! And if you don't, well, I was wearing a blue dress shirt (w/palm trees on it) and khakis. You might have noticed me dancing my ass off, because Cor kicked ass!

Rosati did a good job of warming the crowd up, which took a little longer than usual... but one thing I learned tonite is that when the TA massive hits the floor, the rest of the crowd follows. TA kept that party alive all night. The crowd was definitely an odd one... strangest crowd I've seen at Viva. There seemed to be an abundance of standing around. And older people. Nothing makes me madder than a whole group of 40+ age group Asians standing around at the front, take up a ton of space. I think I've grown out of the Viva crowd... it's just way to sketchy and sometimes unfriendly. There was lots of room to move around tho, and that was nice.

I was so happy to hear the new smoking bylaw was in effect at Viva. It was soooo much nicer in there than in the past - much cooler too.

Oh, and the bathroom guy... AWESOME... gave him a $5 tip.

Cor kicked some ass with straight up banging hard trance. I only recognized a handful of tunes, but I wasn't interested in IDing everything last night. Hard, driving, epic... great set. A couple of hiccups (did the needle break at that one spot?) but overall very enjoyable.

CROWD: 4/10
COR: 8.5/10
ROSATI: 8/10
VENUE: 10/10 (and always will be)

Track ids:
Endre - Kallocain (Robert Nickson Remix)
Above & Beyond - No One On Earth (Gabriel & Dresden remix)
Ton TB - Dreammachine (??? remix)
Katana - In Silence (Txitarro remix)

OMG, speaking of In Silence, WHY OH WHY DID HE HAVE TO MIX DURING THE BUILDUP! IT WAS DECENT, BUT TOOK A LOT AWAY FROM THIS TRACK!!!

Underworld - Kittens (??? remix)
G&M Project - Sunday Afternoon (???)
Filo & Peri - I:95

and I forgot everything else.

CAN'T WAIT FOR PICS/VIDS!

did he play Venus?

Posted by starsearcher on Jun-12-2004 16:36:

Just opened my eyes...still dead but can't seem to sleep anymore...here are some of the tracks Cor played last night...

Tiesto - Love comes again (Mark Norman Remix)
Tiesto - Adagio for strings
A&B - No One on earth (G&D remix)
Katana - In silence
Cor Fijneman - Venus (Tiesto remix)
Ton TB - Electronic malefunction (Cor Fijneman remix)
Ton TB - Dream machine (Marco V remix) - opening track
That new 4 strings production from PVDs set that I still don't know the name of
The orange theme
His own track that I don't know the name of but was very melodic and vocal - beautiful
I know there were more I can remember so as soon as I do I'll post them!

WOW, that's all I can say.

Shoutouts to the TA's the showed up at Coffee Time! (Matt + the rest, I'm horrible with names)

As Matt said before I think the TA's were the ONLY ones dancing. I looked around at 3:30am when Cor dropped Tiesto's Adagio For Strings and more than half the club was STANDING around! What hell was with that? I don't mean to be racist at all, but the sketchy asian crowd really kills the vibe.

Aside from the crowd, Cor had a great track selection, and I'm glad I went. Plenty of room to dance and music I love

At Dumonde last year the crowd was 100x better, but I enjoyed both.

Looking forward to NU-NRG coming up July 2nd!

EDIT: DJ Ski(sp?) wanted a link for something, PM me and I'll send it.

that guy is a sick DJ, viva aint what it used to be

Posted by TrickDaddE on Jun-12-2004 17:34:

Big shout to all the TA's who remembered the Trickster.
An excelent night all together after a slight Tiesto disappointment.
Not that Tiesto was bad but I just cant get pas the negative Guv vibe.

Anyways I am very suprised to to hear people elevate Cor above Tiesto but I would honestly say he made me dance more.

Nice to meet some new TA's as well: Tatgirl, EndlessWave, Smucky, Tordan, JayX1, Matt and others.

Rabitt nivce to see you again glad there are no hard feelings!!

Starsearcher.... sorry we did not meet again but we must have got close because my girl and I were up in the VIP area as well with TatGirl and others just before Cor set. We got an autograph and some nice pictures. Thx Tat!!!

Look forward to the next big event. {PVD I think) !

First time at Viva. Layout, sound, lasers, and decor were awesome. Packed house for Dumonde musta been amazing. Club was empty when we got there, which really worried us.

Mark Oliver was playing some solid tracks before Cor. Can anyone ID that one hardstyle track right b4 Cor came on?

Cor is the fucking master. 3 hrs of bangers. Recognized almost all of first 2 hours and last half hour. Sitting down now to ID. I think he opened with Dream Machine. To add to wat others already said he played Naranja, Loops and Things, Age of Love, Love Comes Again (Mark Norman mix??), and Venus. Can't think of others at the moment....

Can someone please ID that track right after Naranja??....fuckin banging hard track

That night was 10 times better than Tiesto. That chubby bastard laid it down forreal. Only bad thing was the crowd, attendance was way too low. IT was cool with TAs and other ppl into the music at the front. But whats with the 40 year old asian coke heads?

Only slept 45 minutes. Im out.

Cor is a BOD MON forreal.

Posted by starsearcher on Jun-12-2004 18:33:

Just remembered
He also played Benni Benassi - Love is gonna save us

Posted by konsl on Jun-12-2004 19:05:

HappyHappy

Track selection was unbelievable!
I can't believe he dropped alex peace - from inside the speaker..

Was awesome to hear Venus, and what did he drop before clockwork?
