problem with TT, is this fixable? by me

the sound only comes out of the left speaker, the problem is with the turntable though for sure i checked,
so it is the tonearm..i guess
does anyone know what the problem is? and how can i fix this?
thanx very much

It might also be the output cables it might just have started outputting in mono.

it could have something to do with your cart, have you checked to make sure all of its connections are spot-on?

i had this problem a few months back...

it turned out that the wire connections between the tonearm and the cartridge were loose. so it could be that- try tightening them up.

Yeah, this has happened to me before and it is the cartridge. This is what you gotta do: unscrew it, and lick (belive or not) the back four gold dots. Just put into your mouth and lick it as if you were sucking on the tip of your thumb. This usually clears the static. Then, just screw it back on tightly and TA-DAH! Just a cool DJ trick I learned while playing at my first live gig.

Like Psiweaver said, don't discard the RCA outputs as a source of the problem. If it does turn out to be that, there was an earlier thread that had a link explaining exactly how to replace the RCAs.

dont leave out the nasty details

I would suggest NOT licking it, but instaed using isopropyl alcohol

saliva leads residue, which can compound the problem
Alcohol does not, it evaporates quickly.

I would take a Q-tip, soak it in alcohol, then clean INSIDE the tonearm, pushing into the 4 contacts. As well, wash the contacts on the cart with teh alcohol. let it dry, then re assemble.

yes, as someone just said, licking is not really that much of a good idea, down the long run.

Posted by dRale on Jun-14-2004 03:44:

hm i think the problem is a loose wire or someting..cause i cleaned it with alcoohol but still didn't help
where might the wire problem be?

If you could find a way to bring it to me, I can pop it open and fix/replace any parts that might be loose or broken!

try blowing down the tone-arm socket. there may be a chunk of dust or something got in
