AHHH god dam Windows

sorry if this is the wrong forum for this but dunno where else to put it, but I want to install the new ATI Catalyst drivers 4.6, and it says it needs Servic Pack 1 to be installed, well I can't install SP1 cos it screws my system up and makes it much worse, so I was wondering, is there anyway around this at all???
I know there are computer wizzez on here that can help, so please do so.

your using windows XP right?
What happens when u install SP1?
cause windows locks up if you try and install sp1 on a system that is
a- pirated
b- uses the most common pirated cd-keys

just wait until service pack 2 bundle comes out. Hopefully, it'll come with all the stuff from SP1. Gorillaman Bamler said it will even work on pirated copies to help ease the problems plauging the internet in terms of security

Do a Google for a tool that will show you what key code your installation of Windows is using. If it starts with FCKGW, your up shit creek. You need to change your key to a unique one. Again, do a Google and you'll find an XP keygen and a utility that allows you to change your install key. Once you have changed it to a unique one, you'll be able to get updates just fine.

No, it installs, I do have a legit copy, but I don't want SP1 installed, it just seems to make my laptop slower and it started to randomly lock up, and my laptop never locked up before, now I have installed XP again and don't want to run the risk of it happening again and have to reformat the dam thing.

Maybe it was a crappy download but I don't wanna risk it again, and if SP2 has the same shit that SP1 has, I'm prolly up shit creek there aswell.

Most people don't want Microsoft to win in its monopolitic ways.

And using pirated software does that, use linux instead then !

Using pirated software only makes them try harder.

OK people chill out, I have a legit copy, and I decided to TRY downloading and installing SP1a, well it worked fine this time, and I have it on, but NOW the dam ATI drivers that I installed SP1 for won't work, they are the correct drivers for XP, but it says I am missing either hardware or software, my vid card is the ATI Mobility Radeon U1 which I take it is also called the IGP 320M, cos thats what it comes up with in the Device Manager, and they Catalyst Drivers say they support it, but the dam things won't install, I dunno what drivers I have now, I think they are 3.6 or so, and I want to upgrade to the new 4.6 drivers, so can anybody help me out?, and point me in the right direction, if they won't work for sure, then are there any 3rd party drivers for it instead?

and try and chill people, this is the chillout forum, we all hate Bill Gates, but unfortunately I do have a legit copy, came with my laptop, although I will prolly crack it since I've reinstalled it so many times the activation and key piss me off, so would be nice to get rid of it, but I'll do that at a later date.

i've installed older catalyst drivers on WinXP (without SP1) before.

i haven't tried out the 4.6 version yet though, so i don't know if it forces your to have SP1 installed?

IGP drivers dude, not radeon series

(i hope you're downloading the right ones)

edit:

try installing the GART Drivers first, reboot, then install the display drivers.

Yup, there the drivers I have, the Gart drivers install fine but the drivers won't.

EDIT: oh and under Device Manager it does say my card is a Radeon IGP 320M, but under the specifications it says its a Mobility U1, I just take it there the same and U1 is just some code for it, oh and when I got my laptop it had a sticker that said ATI Radeon on it.

Thanks man, I'll be checking that out, and I just found myself the new drivers but been modified for the IGP 320 in laptops, so I take it the drivers on ATIs site weren't made for the mobile gamer, basterds, thank god for those brainy nerds out there.
