Thumbs down Dance Valley 2001 Theme...and Corsten in general

Wow...I thought Needlejuice was bad, but THIS is just horrible. I'm honestly disapointed with Ferry, after many years of putting out some good stuff he drops this...major disappointment in my opinion, I don't know what he's doing with the cheezy synth line or the jungle break but...eeeeew.

I don't understand it...I STILL play his remix of Push - Universal Nation, its one of my most prized vinyls!!!

I know the music evolves and so does the DJ but I can't stand this track...

Just my hunble opinion, I'm sure others might like it. I love flight 643 yet many hate it.

What does everyone think about this one?

Peace!

personally i dont't mind it.
its nothing special or anything, but i don't dis-like it
i know most people were pretty disappointed with this song, they were expecting alot more
hmmm

Posted by mindshooter on Sep-10-2001 06:03:

I hate it to....but he does so much good stuff nowadays so i dont blame him....maybe he had some restrictions since it was supposed to be a "theme" who knows.....its a kinda catchy and fun melody.....

Posted by wushuboy on Sep-10-2001 06:22:

its not ferry's fault. its barthezz's fault. He co produced dance valley theme and when he gets a hand on anything he ruins it. That guy is the king of cheesy themes. On the move sucks. And im pretty sure its because of him that dance valley theme has the cheesiness.

Dont loose faith in ferry. Look at all the awesome tracks he's gonna release.
Eon - pocket damage
east west - the love i lost
these two songs are so goddamn awesome.

lol.. dunno about you guys, but I love needlejuice and dance valley theme.. I don't find anything wrong about these 2

Posted by ripcurl on Sep-10-2001 10:32:

cant say that i hate it, i even like it,
it is easy on the ears, fun to listen, why not?
but i will never put it in a party.

I like Needlejuice too,but the DV-theme sucks big time.Probably the worst production Ferry ever made.

GREETZ!!

Arrow dance valley theme

Dance valley theme is a nice and happy tune
i dont see anything wrong with it
and wushuboy: barthez is a great producer, his on the move is pretty amazing tune in my opinion, all of bathez's tuns are happy and make you feel good. but thats onley my opinion...

I LOVE DANCE VALLEY 2001 THEME!!

yeah! I think its a f&U%ckin' good track! I love the breakbeatz in the middle, and the bass is just awesome

This track just shows how many great sides Ferry has.

Posted by Pjotr G on Sep-10-2001 13:55:

I kinda think it's bit off a
underworld - king of snake
rip off...partly

but it's kinda catchy...a typical outdoor party tune

Posted by ejumbo on Sep-10-2001 14:00:

there was a rumor that barthezz co-produced this track, but bart himself said he did not. so, you can only blame ferry if you hate this track.

it's not meant to be an amazing uplifting tune it's meant to be a theme with a happy sound, which i think matches dance valley perfectly.

it's put together very well and has a catchy tune

Posted by dig2k on Sep-10-2001 15:53:

I think corsten is over rated... He can produce good stuff, but he's inconsistent, theres lots of stuff by him I don't like..

Posted by Dj Lex on Sep-10-2001 15:56:

He isn't overrated he is one of the best, how can you be overrated then?
But this Dv theme I don't like either. It is one big crap.

Fuck everbody who thinks Ferry Corsten is a sellout. I admit the first time I heard Dance Valley Theme I thought it was cheesy but then I heard how Marco V mixed it into a set and loved it. Although the melody is cheesy it is catchy and happy. The buildups are awesome and the breakdowns euphoric. The jungle bass is a nice touch. The party kids here in Texas love it too.

Posted by Blik on Sep-10-2001 16:12:

just wait for "Eon - Pocket Damage" that track is amazing, produced by ferry Corsten

I personally am SO disappointed in Dance Valley Theme! I could pull a better tune out of my @$$! I cannot for the life of me figure out why it's doing so well either! Ferry couldn't have put any less effort into it! I too thought Needlejuice was gonna be his worst ever, he just needed to get some experimenting off of his chest, no prob! But I hope he doesn't continue down this path! Ferry come back!

Bro I didn't say he was a sellout. Theres nothing he can really sell out to. The only thing I can possibly think of was that as a theme he was trying to please all aspects of the rave scene, maybe that quik little happy synth line for the hard house heads and that jungle break for the ruwd-bwoy's, but to me that is not Corsten. That track has no emotion, no feeling to it whatsoever in my opinion. Its just a happy commercial track, the kind of stuff I boycott here which gets played on the radio.

The last thing he did I even remotely liked was exhale.
I listened to soul on soul at the record store and passed on the purchase.

Peace.

There's nothing wrong with more mainstream so-called "commercial" sounding songs. If it wasn't for DuMonde's Alice Deejay project and Darude's "Sandstorm" I might would never have gotten into trance. I don't think "commercial" always = bad.

But I do agree, "Soul on Soul" sucks.

Posted by Shudder on Sep-11-2001 01:33:

i thought it sounded like a tv theme and thought it was pretty bad too

dunno what all the fuss was about

I like the Dancevalley Theme 2001, it's different from Ferry's usual stuff but it's interesting.

Heh, bro I will tell you exactly why I hate canadian radio. Prime example. I get people who come up to me and ask me if I heard this "crazy new trance song". And I roll my eyes and ask which song and they say something like "Sylver - Skin" or "Barthezz - On The Move". First off I don't mind sylver, hate barthezz but thats irrelevant. I'm very happy that people are enjoying trance, the more the merrier but what I DON'T like is when cocky people think b/c they heard 1 song on the radio they all of a sudden are experts on music, and while I play a good track or classic like Communication they ask me "what the hell is this". I sound like an idiot, its hard to explain but the radio commercializes everything, they take away the fun of it because I hear it 24/7, CONSTANTLY. I get so sick of the song I don't want to hear it anymore!

I boycott the radio...we don't have nice stations like Slam FM up here, we get stupidness like Z 103.5 who commercialize things.

It's not that I don't like people getting into trance, like I said the more the merrier, but I dislike ignorant people who act like they know the music or scene b/c they heard one song on the radio.

Does what I'm saying make any sense? I feel like I'm not expressing it properly. Anyways I think you kinda get what I mean.

PEace.

I agree with ya...

Same goes for ppl who buy 1 CD and automatically know the entire history of the DJ who mixed it or something... God.

i know exactly how you feel man. i've recently bumped into quite a lot of people like this and i MUST say they are so annoying. they hear some shit on the radio, dl a couple of tunes from random webpages and think they have known a lot about the music. they even have the nerves to tell me that i don't know shit about real trance. well hey i admit i ain't a super expert at it. i don't know EVERYTHING about it but i have followed it long enough to hold my own. jesus, some people out there need to get a clue.
