Denon X1500 and the Ecler Nuo5
Ok, I'm in the market for a new mixer in the next couple months, and I have been keeping my eye on the Denon (I know Elcer is awesome, but I'll explain why I was going for the Denon in a sec), anyway, it looked awesome had good features, and I thought that Denon was gonna produce something ace, at the same time I been keeping my eye on the Ecler, and being a big fan of theres and always wanting a Smac40, when they brought out the Nuo5, I thought I died and went to DJ heaven, well then I saw a quote for the price, and it looked like it was gona be close to 2 grand Canadian, so I thought I'd stick to the Denon since it was around 1200 Canadian, BUT I just saw on a www.djmr.com that they are selling the Ecler for 1260 CDN and I'm sure I can get it cheaper than what DJMR quote, so now I am in DJ heaven, and just wanted to ask fellow DJs, between the 2, and being the same price, which would you go for and why?, I'm sure I will be sticking to the Ecler, they are an awesome company (not bashing Denon, there good to), but thought it would be good to hear some opinions.
Oh and does anybody know of any other Canadian sites that sell DJ equipment?, I know about Axemusic, but they ain't advertising yet.
this post will probably be useless to you, as i have never used either mixer, but i would just like to take this opportunity to say that the nuo looks fucking mint!
me want..

you can even "launch" effects with it!
hubba hubba ![]()
im in the same position, i was looking at the Pioneer 500 and 600 then i saw the denon and thought yeah possibly.... AND then i saw the Ecler and thought i gotta try that out
so im waiting til im off work them im gonna try out the Ecler, Denon and Pioneer but i want that Ecler it looks sturdy as fuck!
Ecler looks completely fucking amazing but I'd rather have the Denon for a couple reasons; 1) The Ecler doesn't have volume meters for each individual channel (hardly matters when you have the PFL thingy but it might complicate 3 deck+ mixing) 2) I want to rack my X1500 (cuz I'm a mobile DJ) and it doesn't look like you'll be able to do that with the Ecler 3) I'd rather have the digital effects read out that the X1500 has, I think it looks a bit easier to tell which effect is which. Just my two cents
i'd love to try out the new denon mixer, but nobody here in scotland has any on display that can be tested.
i don't really like the look of that ecler mixer. altho tu face what do you mean when you say lanuch effects
there's a button that says, "fx launch"
I've never heard of or seen Vecler before... that's a fancy ass mixer up there ^^^ :O
Could anyone tell me how they compare in quality to a Allen&Heath mixer? CUz considering he price, I may go for this one instead of the Xone92.
Jonny Thrice just wrote a nice review of the ecler NUO-5. check it out.

Wow this mixer looks very mint. I'd love to see a comparision between this mixer, allen & heath xone:92, tascam x-9 and the denon.
Wow, thanx for the link Chex. I listened to its effects on the sample mp3 it posted and man... Sounds like you get lots for your moneys worth. A perfect alternative to the Xone92 i think.
And btw, does anyone know any other mixers that have full cuts on their EQs? Like literally no sound playin when all the knobs are turned down?
The rane Empath also has a full cut eq. It also has the wet/dry fader for a complete processed signal. The only disadvantage to the empath compared to the nuo-5 is it doesn't come w/ built in effects or a fourth channel. Im really anxious to spend some time w/ a nuo5 and see how it stacks up against my empath and ineko.
guess you are just gonna have to go through the "hell"
of testing out both of them and seeing what you like better... cuz both LOOK sweet... I might have to tag along with you when you go tho Dan..
does this mixer have a built in sampler like the djm-600?
I just find the djm 600's effects the most logically layed out and easiest to use.
Looks like many people are gonna have to make many tough decisions on which mixer to get, I see these as a good replacement for the 500/600, as somebody said about the layout and control of the effects being very easy, I would have to agree, its simple and it works, they might not be of the same ease on the Ecler, but they will make up for that in build and sound quality, so far I'm still with the Ecler, with the Denon just tagging behind, I've heard some bad reviews of it, but that was cos they wanted more scratch features (seems Denon was classing it as a Scratch capable mixer), but I don't really scratch so I don't care, gonna have to try these beasts side by side.
Chesco: sorry but I haven't seen or read anything about a sampler, so I don't think so on that, oh well can't have everything.
DJ Lazy: COME ON MAN, you know I'll be dragging your ass along with me the next time I go to ANY record or DJ shop....duhhhh
.

just spunked my load on a Pioneer DJM 600
got deliered this morning and its fucking quality!
was the main reasoni got it, very good deal from ebay! cheaper than the DJM 500 too
was wondering:
didnt the Denon mixer have a digital output? would that really make it any better?
one thing i like bout that mixer (denon) are the seperate volume meters for each channel
Ya the seperate volume meters are nice as is the ability to rack mount. I just love the layout and look of the Ecler and all of its features are top shelf.
