how do you feel clubs are handling the smoking law??

So how do you think we are doing????

Posted by Durafei on Jun-16-2004 00:13:

Well, so far I've been impressed. Much better without the smoking.

Posted by aeroheli on Jun-16-2004 00:15:

I'm new to this forum, but are you really associated with the club?

If so, great to meet you I love the place and the staff. The no-smoking law is great, especially when clubs get packed - Tiesto at the guv.

One request though, I would love to go more often but could you somehow encourage more ladies and less men with their shirts off.

Let's all work together to prevent sausagefests.

AMEN!! I think we're gonna start seeing a lot more women at electronica events as popularity of trance music surges. We're starting to hear it on radio stations and music video channels, so it's only a matter of time now. With that said, it's time places like Boa started advertising on Z103 and the like. I know some people will object because they feel this would take something of 'ours' and give it to 'them,' but it's gonna happen anyway and we might as well embrace it.

Z103????? when hell freezes over!!!

Like Tiesto said, once the media embrasses the scene there's a good chance it can grow like it did in Europe.

As sad as it is, if you wanna get some women down to a club, that seems to be the way to go about doing it nowadays. I heard there were a lot of women at Boa for Hitoshi, so i came to Scumfrog with high expectations, but only met one really beautiful girl the entire night. The music was incredible though, that along would get me to come back.

I'd like to see more people at the events for the actual music itself.

Thanks for saying that. I was afraid clubs might start reaching out to a new client-base just to test the waters. I don't wanna see those damn Z103 dummies runnin about in one of my favorite clubs.

ive been to boa a few times and the male to female ratio there seems to be pretty even.

The lack of women that night probably had something to do with the fact that Scumfrog started REALLY late, and i noticed most chicks run out of energy by 3-4AM.

you guys are doing a very good job

as a social chain smoker (on clubnights i smoke like a fiend, but maybe 2 or 3 a day on a normal day), i am very happy that this bylaw was put into effect.

thank you for enforcing it!

But considering the high gay men population, the ratio can be a little skewed.
(Not saying anything wrong with that so don't read anything into it...)

I try and bring friends with me to trance events, but the ones who aren't TA's usually have to be entertained. If they are not into the music, they don't enjoy themselves. They would rather be at bar that plays the usual top 40 music that I can't stand.

Howdy! Question for y'all @ Boa..

Do y'all have a smokin' room there or something of the sort? Did y'all turn your coat check into a smokin' patio?

Just curious.

The lounge downstairs is now the smoking area. And MAN is it packed down there now!! I went to use the washrooms down there the night of Dean Coleman, and i could barely see it was so smokey!!!!

The long delayed patio where coatcheck used to be, and the separatly enclosed and ventilated lounge are the smoking areas.

*Backs you on this one 1000%*

Boa is "underground"!!!!!!

This may be a little off, but from what I can see on an average night @ Boa - 25-40% Gay, 30-50% girls, 25-40% Straight guys. On an average night there does tend to be more guys than girls. But lucky for us most of those guys aren't looking for females (Lucky for me anyways lol)

Sweet.

Maybe I don't understand the law...someone fill me in. How can a club have a 'smoking room' if all venues are supposed to be 'smoke free'? Seeing the Guv suddenly convert the Gold Club Lounge into the smoking area was a surprize to me. Ironic how the air inside was cleaner than the air on the patio...

Posted by PartyHarlequin on Jun-16-2004 17:28:

I believe that a seperately ventillated area can be designated as a smoking room.
