Question growth of tranceaddict, blessing or curse?

I actually miss the days when we used to flame about trance and prog. Nowadays it's all hot shots (who don't even fucking listen to the music) looking for attention by blurting out politcally sensitive statements.

Where art thou old tranceaddict!?!?

yea i find TA has too much of a revolving door lately.

too many people who i have never met/never talked to. i remember the days when i used to know pretty much EVERYONE on TA.

i think there a lot of new members who post a lot less than the older TAs. it's kinda hard to keep up with them.

i would also guess that about half the people on here haven't made an effort and don't want to meet other TAs. an attitude that's pretty different than before.

Don't worry, everyone's on vacation ... watch, TA will be back to normal soon.

LOL Prog vs Trance dayz ... BHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

All the reason why you should expand your circle of friends to include these new TAs! The last thing that should happen on this board is for the people on here to form impenetrable cliques that are associated with many other boards in Toronto.

I find that having a constant influx of new members signing up to TOTA keeps things in here fresh and new. Without them, it would be a stale situation with the same old faces and same old topics. I mean, how many trance vs. prog wars would we need to have before it just got boring in here??

PS> So to answer the original question, definitely BLESSING!

Agreed 100%. Although, based on my observations some new people certainly are going about the wrong way to make people want to include them in ANY social group.

There is an interesting dynamic on here when new people join compared to the "real world". People new to a social group wouldn't be nearly as abrasive, confrontational and to the point in the "real world" as they'd get ostracized immediately for doing so. But, for some reason it seems that new people on here feel they have a green light to let it rip (whenever, wherever, about whatever and on whomever they choose).

TOTA is a VERY open group of people towards accepting new friends probably the most open group Ive ever seen. However although the dynamic of how people act on TA is different (from the offline world) the dynamic of how people choose friends/peers isnt; a little old fashioned courtesy, common sense, maturity and manners would go along way to help people get along and being accepted.

Definitely a blessing...as many DJs have said in recent interviews...

I'm sure Emery would agree looking at his recent travel posts

Definitely true, that's for sure.

Im not here to make friends... im here to waste time and talk about stuff instead of watching tv. I have my own social life thanks. If you are here to make friends thats great but thats not my objective.

As for newbies, the more the merrier. If i understand correctly, the old school TA was nothing about trance vs prog wars and complaining about how busy or empty a club was.

maybe you should put that in your sig, just so we all know that whatever you post is just bullshit to waste your time and annoy the rest of us during the day. god forbid, we happened to make friends through this board.

Posted by Jayx1 on Jun-16-2004 17:23:

I firmly believe in everything i say. Im just not here to start a new social life thats all.

I have definitely seen a shift as well. Its funny I was thinking this last night, when I went to go post something in a thread then decided against it.

Posted by The Highroller on Jun-16-2004 17:28:

i never quite understood that whole "i have my own social life, thank you" mentality. Why wouldn't you want to make new friends? Just because you meet people on the boards doesn't mean you have to be friends with them.

you don't want to meet new people because you have "your own social life"?

i have my "own social life" too, but i'm not afraid of meeting new people.

It has changed quite a bit, but i think TA is going stronger and better than ever before. It seems like there are tons of new people and faces, which is a good thing. New fresh people keep it interesting and different.

Although i never really talk or join in many of the conversations, i usually just like to read and see people's opionions on different matters. I've never tried to meet any of the TA's here, but i guess its just me. I see them all the times at clubs, i just dont feel a great urge to meet everyone and be friends with all.

If i make friends on this board then thats great. But im not going to coddle my words or change my opinions so that i can make friends. If i were concerned about making friends here i wouldnt be so abrupt but since this is a message board which essentially is designed for discussion and debate, i am going to use it as such.

I have met a few people already through message boards and they are great people and we have good times. But, that is not the reason i signed up thats all im saying.

i'm still here ... i still read the posts but i'd rather keep my mouth shut these days.

i have nothing against new-comers and am all for change and new additions to our crew ...but it's about the WAY and the HOW not the WHAT!

i share the same sentiments as you. 'nuf said.

my mistake. you were making it sound like you didn't want to meet anyone on here because, "you had your own social life".

i guess i read into taht wrong
