honestly i think it's crazy stupid what he's doing. I mean honestly, he obviously can't sing.. but why do people get a kick out of it ? cause he's a funny looking asian guy (i'm asian by the way) whose teeth are all jacked, and he has no talant. But he's become popular, why ? not becuase he's talented, but because it's funny to watch him. It's sad, he's so obvlivious to the whole thing too, which is sad....

People like to see people that are worse than themselves. Um, let me give you an example:

In the first season of "Big Brother" here in Germany there was a guy, who was REALLY dumb. He was WORSE than Jessica Simpson (is teying to be?). People loved him, because they finally had someone to look down upon. Everybody thought "omg, he is so dumb... hahaha that is funny". Even your 'average joe' was -or appeared to be- a lot smarter than him. He then put out a single -he couldn't sing either- and people loved it too....

same with that William guy. He is uglier than most people and he sings worse. And people are happy to see someone is worse than them.

I think its more of America's way of saying that American Idol is a load of BS, the idea of someone from another country coming here and saying that we all worship people just because they can sing, and have no musical talent or originality of their own really offends me to tell u the truth. I just get pissed because the show is called American idol and all they do is sing other people's music, wtf, I'm supposed to worship this shit? I think people started liking Mr. Hung just to show that the real american idol is not even close to the shit that they put on the TV.

I sure wish they had picked someone else to do that to tho

(i'm asian too) contrary to what you think, he's not oblivious to all of that. he's actually extremely smart. will's a student at the engineering program in uc berkeley. i personally don't see whats the big deal. he wants the publicity, he likes it, he's making bank from it (on billboard top 100 or something), let him make money from all these other stupid people who enjoy that stuff. his gain, their loss. don't hate.
