you asked for it loulla- My Thoughts On 5AM

before i start this rant i have to say ive got nothing against these people and i have gotten along with them in the past.

firstly ill start with mangler...
mangler i respect the fact that you started a trance night after the genre had been non existant in our local scene...but the reality (my opinion) is that you really dont know much about trance....theres so much to back this up with, from the music that you play, to that infamous quote of yours "john 00 fleming..he plays hard style" someone who is in touch with trance would never make such a comment and its like a 16 year old going to an underage club, listening to Junior Jack-Da Hype, and saying that they love techno. you have a long past in the industry and have many connections but the majority of them are related back to clubs such as viper and dome. credit where credit is due you guys have perservered even though the numbers through the door arent exactly setting the world on fire. in my opinion (and i stress that point) you see money making opportunites through being a booking agent for all these guys and thats why your still playing this game as a lot of em are being booked for big gigs. this might be a coincedence but dave begic couldnt get a gig a while ago but ever since his production work has improved to great standards you seem eager to let him into the fold?? (am i reading too much into this??)

loulla-spare me the crap that you wrote in the other post...i got no beef with you, but dont sit here and give bullshit reasons as to why jules isnt playing on the night....i remember once upon a time it was you guys who once said "We dont want any of the political side of the scene"

i dont show up anymore to these events..i still think you stole my idea and i dont care what you say (no hard feelings though..i got over it well over a year ago...ill still support the guys whenever i can and when i dont have prior obligations) never the less im not willing to support you on something which i feel is half arsed.

and before you try to rebutt by saying that i should run a trance night if i think i know it all, id have no problem with apart from the fact that i work full time and study full time at uni too)

ill write more as the replies come along...

Posted by Mangler on Jun-17-2004 12:10:

... i said "John 00 Fleming plays hardstyle" ... .. must have me confoosed with somebody else ... i dont even know what hardstyle is.. Blutonium Boy or somtheing.. apparently??
I'm not really interested in being the professor of trance. i just enjoy the music, so what?
i make money off booking these guys for big gigs... ... I dont even book them for these gigs .. in fact i make no money out of booking any dj's for any gigs, i'm NOT a booking agent.
i you want to know the situation is regard to Dave Begic.. ask Dave.. or me.. he still hasnt played at many gigs.. & we both paid out of our own pockets to go to Tassie.
if this is your opinion on 5AM, you're entitled to your opinion, but this is the basis of your opinion??...

Melbourne VS Melbourne !!

This will be intere$ting..

Posted by 00soups00 on Jun-17-2004 13:30:

this is quite interesting article, and who knows where it shall lead.

from what i can gather, stips has a wide respect in the trance community, for doing what, im not actually sure... however i do know that i met him a few years back when i started back in 2001, but i do not know much else about him..

from my point of view, and obviously limited input and information re: these politics is that 5am is hopefully a step forward, in the right direction,(and from what i know, they're doing a terrific job.) (AS LONG) as it is handled properly, and run correctly, because the last thing that a flayling trance scene (and lets face it, thats what we have, because we're in the minority here) is political FUKN bullshit.

i dont know what 5am has done to arouse this anti-sediment to their cause, but this just doesnt happen overnight, so whatever they've done, they need to right there wrongs, bury their pride and either apologise to the individuals that they have wronged, or move on despite what has happened and not let this saga get out of hand, because it has the potential to do so.

In the end, we all flame each other on here, and tear each other to shit, but at the end of it all, we're all people who believe in the same thing and thats EDM. We all want it to grow, because we know how special it is, and we know the teething masses out there who listen to pop shit are fuked up because that is not a definition of what music is about. However these politics are starting to get in the way of what our music is supposed to be about.. Not PLUR and all that shit, but about a group of individuals who love what we love, and are all pushing it forward in the right direction, in the pursuit of keeping it alive.

So.. without trying to get anyone offside, please heed my advice. 5AM and Mangler, do what you have to do to repent for your previous sins. I cant comment on what has happened in the past, simply because i dont know what has happened, but do what you have to do in order to keep your part in this scene rocking.. And if that means hiring the seemingly 2nd best up and coming dj (julesPLees) the do it. If it means cutting your losses with him and moving forward, then do that too...

Out music is too important to let it goto shit because of these half-assed political disagreements..

In closing, i just wnat to say that im not endeavouring to get involved in this political debate, nor inflate it.. Surely we can understand that keep our scene alive is more important then entering this political debarcle. Let the individual parties sort it out themselves, and if sorries need to be said, then say them...

I Love Trance... and i love the fact that i can hear it when i go out... and when i hopefully make it as a dj i want to provide this enjoyment to others...

Lets not let anything stand in the way of that, okay!!!!

PLUR and all that jazz

haha, j/k (i only put that PLUR bit in, because i found out what it meant last night)

I don't think you achieve anything positive out of having scene squabbles on the internet...

hows about people provide some serious opinions, rather then just making this like all the other threads here

a counterproductive waste of KB and bandwidth..

i think i speak for most people on here when i say "well, good!"

For what its worth 5AM, those of us who are *literally* trance addicts think you're all wonderful. we couldn't care less about the politics involved, who took whose idea, who has a better knowledge of trance etc- as long as you show up and give us a great evening, we don't care.

so, cheers to lou lou & the beer wenches, and mangler & the DJs

*maximum respect*

Agree totally. This whole thread is really unnecessary. Instead of offering any constructive comment about 5am, it is based on personal issues about people who run the event.

I'm not going to offer an opinion because thankfully I don't get involved in the behind the scene stuff and would like to keep it that way. However, public disagreements on the internet (while entertaining for some... who needs to watch Big Brother now!?) do nothing for the cohesiveness of the scene. As pkcRAISTLIN says above, the people who go to trance events don't care about scene politics... they just want to enjoy the night and have fun. Perhaps this should be keep this in mind before creating these threads, and personal issues kept private.

i had no idea there was so much intrigue behind the scenes. If I knew that clubs had so much backstabbing and hate as my work I would just stay at work. At least I get paid to watch the blood flow here

Posted by Manglerina on Jun-18-2004 01:07:

Its probably worse than your work tubby! and it goes on everywhere and at every level.
