4 hr Psytrance set now online!!
Feel free to enjoy our newly recorded set from a festival my friend Norris and I (Darvin) played at last summer in British Columbia called SHAMBHALA. The tracklist will be up eventually, but to get an idea fo whats on it you can lok at the Intersect mix tracklist.
It has some surprises!!! I had to put it up as two sections because the file was to big to save on my computer.
We are the SONS OF AURORA, and you can catch our tunes here:
www.area709.com
There are also a number of other really incredible psytrance mixes on that site by other arists such as: Cricket, Jintonik, and Wes Straub, as well as a bunch of other genres (breaks, garage, 2-step, house, progressive, drum and bass, trance) and artists (Inanna, Cary Chang, Math Leutwyler , The Phat Conductor).
We are just a group of passionate people not looking to profit but just wishing to share our love of good music.
Peace and light!!

Review for Shambhala Mix 03 Part II:
Awesome opening on Mix Part II..I love how psy-trance can get-away with making beautiful tracks that you just would not hear in a club otherwise I love the ethnic flair at the beginning of this mix, the female vocals echoes and ethnic drums pander lightly, you really bring some great elements in here, and slowly ever slowly comes the beat, ready to take flight. The synths scream from the darkness catching up with the beats. And finally, the bass line takes root moving away the ethereal, back to a more psy-trance feel into the depths of bass.
The mix continues on with a consistent energy. Nice explosive breaks and re-entries. And another open vocal break drifting away from the heavy bass lines. About 1/3 way through only to tease you and SLAM right back into beats and basslines, AWESOME. The mix continues in a hard fashion, and then releasing to a trippier plan of existence, with the roars of 303s, delayed and echoes. Eventually running through Thickets of Deep and Organic Sounds. Tasty goodness to send your head spinning, feet moving, body shaking, and mind exploding. The track selection is top notch for this journey. You just get more pumped up, as this mix moves forward.
More vocals sneak in, a little more of a surprise about 2/3 way through. And I think this is one of the surprises of the mix. It is some sort of acappella, maybe not specifically written for a psy-trance track, but it fit in the mix. Refreshing changes, and pushing the music envelope requires changes to the otherwise unexpected. And this is an example of how to push that envelope with success, while retaining the essence of the mix. It stands out enough, but never too far out to the listener to say what the fuck is that?.
Another example of this is a brassy horn ensemble that follows shortly after the acappella, with a mix of saxophone and trombones also with sliding guitar notes matching the horns. Something not the usual in a psy-trance set, but this is what I like about it.
The breaks are well timed through the mix, giving you time to catch up. I sometimes think I might need a few more, so you could take a rest from dancing. But then again I was never a super energized sustainable dancer for 2-3 hours. Sashas - Wavy Gravy J Didnt expect to hear that, but nice for a sustained moments of relaxation then back into the fray of Psy-Trance. Dive, Dive, Dive!!!!
Keep it going strong and push that musical envelope, that is the only way we evolve.
Awooooooo!!
Thank you for taking the time to give some serious feedback Todd
I am curious, do you know what that acapella is? Do you know who it si by? I am wondering if you just don't want to say so you don't spoil the surprise for others.....if that is the case then lets not mention who it is.
I am dling your mix presently and will have a full review for you after I give it a serious listen.
