What the hell happens with Trance Djs ???

I listen to all the latest dj sets and i don't understand where trance is going , and since nobody talked about last weeks i dont understand.. i mean i listen to tiesto NO ENERGY , NO ENERGY ,NOTHING .... AVB plays progressive house , not better ...paul van dyk now plays house trax and even corsten style is not energic.....what happens.... it makes a long time and didnt hear a great set with melody or energy ...all these tracks are the one that the only suspense is to know when it's going to end.... help !!! still good djs around ?

RNAKR, I agree with you.
The thing is that Trance is changing drastically. Some people say it's dying, other people say it's evolving.
But I definitely see your point. In the good ol' days, a good DJ would spin hard-ass energy trance with lots of excitement and a fast beat. These days it's some slow/experimental/boring shit. Mostly. Even from Tiesto!

I agree with you.. I started a post too.. last week. PvD has changed a lot. I LOVED sets like PvD @ Mark Spoon Birthday Party. God such sets rocked.. but have a listen to the new sets.. I hope you understand.

I understand what you mean but as trance has evolved, we have to evolve, so go hear some other DJ's if u want energy in a set, try DJ Scot Proj or Talla or DJ Bossy (Cosmic Gate) all these spin with a lot of energy and they aren't alone

Peace

what's the latest set from Ferry Corsten? I'm agreeing with you on all the other Djs tho. Paul Van dyk, grrr, house, bleah.

Dumonde have alot of energy as do DJ Scot Project & Cosmic Gate, like DJRavemonkey mentioned. I don't like alot of this "progressive" stuff that's going on now.

Progressive is cool but uplifting/epic stuff really blows it out of the water. I wish DJs would go back to spinning the amazing, high-energy stuff that makes you want to go nuts and stop spinning progressive which definitely gets boring after awhile. I think most would agree with me when I say that the older stuff is much better from people like PvD, Tiesto, AvB, etc. and that those DJs should start moving back to uplifting/epic stuff.

well i don't understand that the addicts here that used to love airwaves , deadline , angelfalls , seven cities now like the new essential mix of tiesto that is nothing more than waiting for something to happen....there are still great tracks that comes out but nobody plays them...

I say there is only one way to go and that is techno

:P I kinda evolved with it i guess...i like Deep Progressive House alot better like Digweed/sasha/Howells/Lyal/orkidea/Deep Dish

and really love Hybrid right now....im not missing anything :P:P:P

Peace

i agree 100% with what most people have said in this thread. PvD/Oakenfold/AvB and even Tiesto's (essential mix anyone?) sets are getting sooo boring these days with very few uplifting tunes in them. look at the older sets by PvD like the opening of the berlin casino, oakenfold at gatecrasher 19.06.01, basically all of armin's older mixes at club eau etc. these sets were so full of epic/uplifting/energetic trance.
i just find progressive more boring but i spose its all in personal taste.
hope some new dj's will pop up to fill the shoes pvd/avb/tiesto are stepping out of.

this year the trance trend is going down and its slipping even more now.

JOHAN GIELEN!!!

Don't know about his latest sets but his tracks rock (none of that proggressive stuff)

Posted by Kurve on Sep-11-2001 07:21:

I dunno ..there are many forms of energy..... like pvd style of sets i think still has amazing energy....its a different form of NRG now then the epic and uplifting stuff..... when u listen to tracks he plays or his rmx .... stuff like pvd - out there, dirt devils - the drill...its more buildup and beat oriantated NRG rather then melodic nrg and the uplifting stuff....i think its just the demand of trance now is that.....I think its great i love .....few months ago i serioulsy got tired of the same epic tunes that were comming out ..same melodies ,same breakdown, same buildup... and many felt the same way ....but when this gets played out a new style will form...mayb it will get back to more the epic stuff!...... but i dont think djs have lost there energy ...its just a different form of energy..and with pvd sets listening to them on mp3 doesnt do them any justices then being there in person then u can experiance that dark kinda more progressive nrg im talking about on a loud system......even with pure progressive ..it might not seem to have nrg to the people who used to get nrg from the epic stuff but for people who are used to it there is tons of nrg in progressive tracks!!!...i used to be a guy who solely listened to the epic stuff ...until just recently

this progression sucks =( i wish i was hooked on trance two years ago. i do like the new music but id PREFER if there was more of the uplifting melodic make u feel good and dance trancy trance

Posted by ripcurl on Sep-11-2001 10:43:

you are right, the only dj that is still kicking is judje jules
his sets always makes me want to jump.

to bad about tiesto though, he had great sets last year, but im sure its only temporary

actually i havent heard good trance in a long time. i havent heard anyy good djs spin good trance tracks since the end of 1999 when everything became all hard house which i couldn't stand. personally i dont think trance has died yet but the fact that it seems to have been more vocalized & sythned recently makes it seem like a commercialized type of dance music. i have been into the darker side of prog hous for just around 2 years and dont mind anything that many think is monotonous---with the continuous driving beat and little melody (yeah think me boring). still i dont mind quality trance but its just really hard to find since hardly anyone plays it.
