Need HELP Finding Something

I think this is the first thread I've started in about a year, but here goes.

I'm after a VSTi or DXi sampler that works like a 909/808/redum/electribe, etc., with the 16th note pads to trigger the sounds rather than using a drum map or sequencer.

Please, if you know of any samplers that operate this way, could you let me know, its the only way I can do percussion and I'm sick of exporting from redrum. I know of Tonic but that is a synth, not a sampler.

Cheers, cheggy.

Not sure if it's the kind of thing you're after, but have
you checked out NIs Battery (http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?battery_us) or LinPlugs RMIV (http://www.linplug.com/Products/RM_IV/RM_IV_HC.jpg)?

I've been using RMIV for a few weeks now and it's superb.

I believe I know what you're talking about.. I like the 16th pads for percussion because it's much easier to sequence..

have you tried rewiring FL Studio to Cubase (I believe you use Cubase SX) it works very well for me...

and if you don't feel like buying it.. just get the demo and export your percussion as Wavs..

you need to save the FL percussion to reload it after you close cubase.. which you can't do in the demo

Yeah, battery is a great drum sampler, but unfortunately, it doesn't have an internal sequencer.

Alonzo, I would love to rewire but I hate rewire. When my Cubase SX window is not active (ie, any other program is active), the Cubase sound engine stops and the song is paused, so when I go to change something in the rewire slave program, I cannot hear any changes I make because Cubase doesn't generate any sound. Then only way is to click back to Cubase everytime I touch Reason/Fruity/Rebirth which is nothing short of a might stick in the ass.

edit....

I noticed that Fruity comes up as a VSTi which is much nicer but i would prefer a stand'a'lone plugin still if anyone knows of any.

mine doesn't do that.. if you want to fix that.. it's a problem with your settings.. "release audio when minimized" or something like that is turned on

I get no problems rewiring, but I'm also on the lookout for an old-school X0X-styled drum sequencer VSTi. To me it's so much more intuitive than a drum map, and more fun to use.

yeah, thanks mate, I found it. I was "release ASIO driver in background". Maybe now I can enjoy rewire.

Thanks a lot mate. It's not exaclty what I'm looking for but could end up working even better. Looks like an insert step sequencer rather than a sampler with a built in drum map. Will give this a shot.

Cheers.

let me know how that program works out, cheggy

hey cheggy, there's a new VST from SonicBytes (EST)

-> http://www.sonicbytes.com/est/est.htm

What about rebirth via rewire, that will give you an 808 and a 909 with step pads and a pair of 303's as a bonus!

Thats everything you asked for and more!

I want a sampler though, not drum machines. If I was going to use rewire, I would use redrum.

cYrus, I notices their sampler but it hadn't been released yet.

I'm giving it a go at the moment. It looks like it might be quite good. I guess the annoying thing about it is that it is a midi plugin rather than a VSTi, so you need to change between ERA and your sampler all the time to make changes to the notes/sounds.

Am tempted to see how the EST works. It still says that it will be released in a few days (the demo that is), so I guess I'll have to wait untill then.
