did Reason change your "producer" life ?

Although I sometimes made some critical remarks about certain points in Reason (...) I just wanted to say that it really changed my way of production.

No other software allowed me to create my Ideas that fast, to use all my samples in different formats and layer some really weird sounds to create some new sound.

What about you people here ? Did you start production with Reason ? Or did you change to Reason when you felt curious about its possibilities...?

I love Reason too, it helped me finally concentrate on software instead of hardware synths.

My path was:

Alesis MMT-8 8 track hardware sequencer + Yamaha DX-7 ->
Korg 01/W FD hardware sequencer/synth + Mirage sampler ->
Opcode Vision + Samplecell + hardware ->
Cakewalk 5.0 + hardware synths ->
Acid + cakewalk pro audio 7 + hardware synths ->
Rebirth + Acid + cakewalk pro audio 8.0 + hardware synths ->
Reason 2.0 + Acid + Sonar 2.0 + Hardware synths ->

Now

Reason 2.0 + Acid + FLP + Sonar 2.0 + controller keyboard.

Uh so wrong and untrue.

1. Without a keyboard controller you WILL lack creative control over your music and will be extrelemely limited.

2. You are locked into reason's architecture. Not expandible, no plug ins, only 2 softsynths and samplers, missing lots of effects.

am not really missing anything and I dont use a keyboard and I dont feel powerless.
Reason missing a FEW effects maybe a better compressor and a separated chorus and flanger device.

Dude, chill, I wasn't saying that. But to answer the original question you would need to have at the very least a keyboard controller if you want your music to sound somewhat human (velocity/aftertouch).

ya man reason missing alot and you need stuff with it to make it sound "human" but hey it sure changed your life!!! high five

Geeze, who put that stick up your ass? It figures anyway, your sticking with this boards standard of asshole burnt out Europeans.

Yes, it is my opinion that reason alone is quite limiting. Maybe it's because I've used programs with FAR better sequencers and I find it extremely limiting to rely on the same 2 softsyths for everything. At the same time I still love the program, I use it in just about every one of my compositions, but only for a few tracks (channels) because it doesn't provide me with the sounds that I need. Also, YES your music will sound VERY robotic without a decent human input device. Maybe when you mature musically you will be capable of understanding this fact.

No, it didn`t change my producer life at all, once I started using Reason I thought, wow! what a powerful combination rewiring this to Cubase (being used to cubase) and using the Redrum, ...

well , I stopped doing this, cause there are way better ways to drums in Cubase alone
