Information on European Security and Defence Policy (The 'European Army')

There have been quite a few posts and references lately to the 'European Army' or European Security and Defence Policy as it is correctly know as. So I thought those interested would find the following information from the European Union' Isntitute for Security Studies helpful/interesting...

Overview of ESDP gives a breif history of the evolution of ESDP

The Headline Goal provides information on the outcome of the 1999 Helsinki Summit where the EU agreed to create a rapid reaction force consisting of some 60,000 troops and the purpose of the missions

Petersburg Tasks are the missions to be undertaken by the EU

ESDP Operations as details of the three ESDP operations that have taken place

EU Institute for Security Studies have a look at the ESDP section to see other info including the legislation

Hope somebody found this useful!

EU Army is defunct organization as of yet.

Looked good on paper though, I reckon.
Still do not need the cowardly French in the alliance.

Lol!
