Question Maybe this is a stupid idea, but hey......

Hey

I just got this idea the other idea. But maybe it won't work because there are too many producers or because of the fact that we're not all using the same software....

Wouldn't it be great if we all made one trance track together??As i said maybe it won't work because we all use different software to produce, but are there any people here who think this i a cool idea?

Is anybody interested at all? Or is this a lame idea???

Let me know! Be honest! (Not too honest pls )

Posted by Spad on Jun-20-2004 19:18:

It'll never work.

I voted yes though coz it'd be fun trying.

Posted by Electronicmaji on Jun-20-2004 19:49:

yes it would since not everyone have reason, fruity, logic, cubase, buzz etc... etc... and we can't go download them all.. can we

Posted by soundrush on Jun-20-2004 21:22:

what if everyone posts a sample of a melody he made, and then all participants vote their favourite melody, and then one melody gets picked, and then everyone makes a mix from it (sorry for anaphora, im drunk )

Posted by ZxZDeViLZxZ on Jun-20-2004 21:23:

true but they could export the parts done in wav and then be seqeunced in and majority of people here use programs that support rewire

Posted by josh on Jun-21-2004 02:10:

Like the idea but wun it be hard? Who is doing which part. Wun it be messy if you wan ALL ppl to do it? Just IMO. I do agree that not much ppl had the same sequencer

Posted by RungeKutta on Jun-21-2004 05:26:

How about everyone make like 1/4/8 measures then someone can mix it all together however they see fit.

Posted by neil_f on Jun-21-2004 05:40:

Why don't you split up into teams, Cubase SX team, Logic team, Fruity team etc.

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Jun-21-2004 07:12:

From my past experience I know these things don't work at all and if they do the track will end up being a mish-mash of styles.

Besides, look how well the TA anthem thing picked up as well...

that didn't went so bad, swamper never took a melody, and no1 knows why..

or we could hold a little competition, see who could produce the best track.

Fruity Team vs Cubase Team vs Reason Team vs Hardware team

could be interesting ^_^

Posted by /I\ on Jun-21-2004 14:11:

It would be do able if everyone posted a couple of mp3s each and then everyone downloaded them and had a go at mixing/producing

Posted by /I\ on Jun-21-2004 14:11:

Deciding on a Tempo and Key would also be a good idea

Yeah.

It actually wouldn't be so difficult, so long as we all weren't working at the same time.

TranceZoner you need to take charge, make a list of everybody that wants to be involved and then assign each person an element.

e.g.

Kick: Jim
Pads: Bob, Terry, Phillipe
Perc (one line each): Jill, Mary, Joseph etc.....
Melody: Frank
Bassline: Kate

So then Frank starts by making the melody. Then sends that to Kate as a .mp3 who makes a bassline that fits it. Then Jim recieves two files: the bassline .mp3 and melody.mp3. He makes some kicks that fit..

etc... etc..

Finally we're down to the final two people. Who should have about 30 different loops . One sequences into a tune (this person should probably be decided by vote.... maybe remix comp winners?). In theory everything should fit and be harmonic because nobody is creating anything without hearing what has already been done first.

The final person then takes the finished track an masters it and bobs your uncle.

It'll still not work but the mechanics are possible in theory at least

Arrow

Ok i will take charge, but i first need the capabilities of everyone who is interested to make one phat track together...

So pls everyone, make a post in which you honestly say what things you're good at... (For me personally that would be either basslines or melodies)

are you doing it with reason? or what?

For this project Reason would be the easiest, since everything is closed, and samples you can contain.

Is cubase/logic/fruity etc..then producer A use absynth, and Producer B and C have no absynth..Project stuck already.

If you are going for Reason, then i suggest we do the following rulez.

First Are we making 1 song? like a huge collab? or is it like you make a small tune, and the other makes another tune and try to mix outro and intro in reason? i prefer 1 huge collab , and assign people what to do like you suggested.

Now next step not everyone has a monster PC, so maybe suggest use send channels for main cpu eaters..delay and Reverb..of cource you can add a little. Or have the ones with the weakest PC start the rns.

Now refills..lets just agree on what refills we use, and try to avoid using 1 small sound from a 300mb refill

add and discuss

am willing to do synths

Well if we do it the way that's been discussed then it doesn't matter what you do it in. You're not adding to an already sequenced tune you're just making a loop to be used by whoever sequences it.

That way everybody can be involved.

I would like to do it.. I use PT and reason.. count me in

Posted by AirPole on Jun-21-2004 21:46:

Ok great!

So there's a bunch of people here that's willing to do this with me...

And I meant one huge collaboration, and we make 1 phat track!

Tomorrow i'll make a post with the people who are willing to do this with me and i'll add their capabilites, coz i'm in a hurry right now..

Cheers!
