Your Thoughts on Lucid???

Ok, so this place is now open and i haven't had a chance to make it just yet...but i've been anticipating it ever since i made that thread about it at the end of march...Could anyone give me the basic details about the place:

ie.

whats cover?
how late are they open?
what types of music are on the different levels?
is there any dress code?
whats beverage prices?
is it taking off well right now? or is it still fairly empty?
does anyone have pics?
does it look a lot nicer then anyother club you've been too, like the concept photos make it seem?

or anything else you wish to add
thanks

ps. i hope to check it out soon...

So far it looks like another British invasion...

Godskitchen at the Docks
Ministry of Sound at Lucid

Yeah so who went? Any reviews?

What I've been told is... their floor situation is strange in the extreme. Due to capacity licences, but the place itself is extremely nice. Sound system didn't get great reviews. I'm curious about checking this place out for myself.

Check the reviews on tribe.
Doesn't sound like anywhere I want to go.

they were advertising that the MMVA's afterparty was to be held there...

Care to elaborate here for us?

I'm not going to read Tribe until they start accepting applications (in such a manner which makes it easy and reasonable to join).

You don't have to be a member to read the forums.

In any case, here's my friend Sara's review of last night:

quote:

So we arrived in line - only to have a bunch of suited men and guccied out women bud in front of us - we were very skeptical of going inside because of all the glam we saw outside.

We got inside and the place was sensory overload - a fricken escalator going up the side of the dance floor and tons of different levels - i felt like i was in a mall not a club.

The sound is HORRIBLE!! way to much reverb bouncing off the walls - so we could not even hear what sneak was playing - just the bass lines - and the tacky go-go dancers and the dumuarie cigarette women on every floor, i was asked 6 times if i wanted a drink - by waitresses that just come up to you - it was so annoying i wanted to tell them off - but at the same time i felt sorry for them.
Oh my god they had a kitchen there and it costs 40 bux for a bento box!!! want a redbull and vodka? 14bux!!

This place was to much! it was fuked and i felt very used after leaving the club and i doubt i will ever return to this adult super-club complex ack!!!

That I know. Why would I want to piss around in a forum where I can't even comment? Read about other people's lives without having a chance to put my $0.02 in where I feel fit? No thanks.

The review sounds like typical NYC superclub. Not my slice-o-pie, but if they bring the talent and make it comfortable one might catch me there once in a blue moon.

Side note: Maybe we need to be a little less skeptical for future events due to the club just being open and they are probably still working out the kinks.

Just did. Everytime I've gone on tribe before it had been "closed" to new applications. Gracias.

I SAY WE GET SOME WICKID PROMOTERS TOGETHER AND TAKE-OVER THE PLACE AND MAKE IT WHAT A RESPECTFUL MINISTRYOFSOUND ESTABLISHMENT SHOULD BE!!!!

*ahem* enTrance? *cough* Int3rf3r3nce productions? *cough* *ahem*

Great, all we need!

The Walmart of gino lounges.

I hope they get their act together because the last thing we need in Toronto is another snobfest.

I will reserve further comment until i go myself. It sounds like the place has a lot of potential. Id say give it a few weeks and then make a review. The supersnobs may have just been media types who were invited to review the place.

Posted by StereoPrincess on Jun-21-2004 11:45:

What other clubs are big snob fests?

Because maybe a club like this will keep the snobs out of our clubs.

I mean guccied out people and rock stars also need to go somewhere. Just as long as it's far away from me. And maybe I will gucci myself out one day and go to pretend I'm rich .

Posted by Jayx1 on Jun-21-2004 12:11:

True, perhaps this will lure the snobs away but typically the more snob clubs yoy build, the more you turn people into snobs.

hmmm... are you saying that well dressed people out to party become snobs automatically?

Yeah really what's taht about?
I like dressing nice and going out somewhere upscale once in a while nothing wrong with that

Posted by Jayx1 on Jun-21-2004 20:40:

Its not how they dress but how they act at snobby clubs.

If well dressed people are out there partying it up its all good. I dress up nice and go out and party. But im getting at the losers who stand in the corner all night or pose all night with an ass face.
