antwerpen

hello there fellow europeans!

i'm coming to visit your country in about few weeks and i'm going to antwerpen mainly (if not entirely).

i have a few questions though.

could you tell me some recordstores there that sell trance cds (singles mainly). i'm interested in buying more stuff to my collection and would like to find the best stores for this.

then i would like to know if there are any clubs i should visit/any good events on 10th-15th of july? is there some site somewhere where i could see some info about this?

then i would also appreciate if you could tell me the best places to get kebab in antwerpen. i'm a huge friend of kebab and would love to taste some belgian kebab too!

and you could also tell me anything you think i should do while in antwerpen. is there any particular sights or anything there i should definately go see?

thank you!

Caf d'Anvers (by the harbour) is the best in Antwerp imo, but I don't know your music taste. Sasha's there on the 20th of July, if that helps...

Bloody everywhere! Getting a kebab in Belgium is a piece of piss, you'll find them everywhere. Do note though that some places advertise as selling Pita but these are usually kebab shops, I've never understood why...

Do you like looking at diamonds? You'll probarly know Antwerp is famous for diamonds
And if you like whores you're in for a big surprise
No I don't

partyguide.be lists upcoming parties.
And Antwerp has like 4-5 big clubs, from house to dnb and techno
Even a gay club if ou're into that

The best kebab place in Antwerp is Mama's Garden. It's very close to the cathedral, so if youre into sightseeing and kebab, that might be a nice combination.

Recordstrores that sell trance-cd's will be harder to find though...
There's Fnac, Free Record Shop, Extrazone and Bilbo, but none of those shops sell that much trance-cd's...

Hooray Skip On Tour....the true skip visits my pristine and glorious city *waves the flag of Antwerp*

But first the bad news. Finding trance singles will be as good as impossible (except maybe for Tisto: Traffic, Rain Falls Down & Love Will Come Again & Armin Van Buuren: Burned With Desire).

If you're looking for some Trance compilations go to the Free Record Shop, it's located on Wapper (a square half-way De Meir, fairly recognizable by the fountain with an Eagle in it, just ask or look it up on a map) because they will most likely still have a Bonza Compilation lying around (when you enter the store, look in the rack to the right of the stairs) and also several Trancemaster compilations (same rack, only a bit further). Also check the singles if interested in those of Tisto & Armin.

Another shop where you might find full-albums of several artists (such as Johan Gielen, Tisto and Armin) and plenty of mix albums is Mediamarkt, it lies near Central Station on the Keizerlei (again ask or look it up on a map).
Mediamarkt is fairly big, they sell everything ranging from coffemakers to headphones. The CD's are located completly at the back of the store. One of the racks will be name "dance" I think, brows through it to find something. Downside on mediamarkt is that almost everything is messed up, so the alphabetical order is not always correct.

Fnac isn't worth visiting Trance-wise. They offer over a wide range of electronic dance music but other that the new Tisto-album you won't find much trance there.

Another shop, if you are looking for some older release or new releases at a suprisingly cheap price is the Replay. It is located at the corner of Oude Beurs and Lange Koepoortstraat (you know what you have to do )

About the Kebad issue....Antwerp offers an endless row of Kebab restaurants. A good and fairly cheap one is located in the vicinity of the Central Station and the UGC Cinema Complex. It's called the Mandarijn or Mandarin (not sure), it's located on a square connecting the Statiestraat with the Breydelstraat (You should realy take a map along, helps alot ^^).
But you also have several in the Suikerrui, very close to the Grote Markt

I went to Mediamarkt today and I'm not sure whether you should go there, all the CD's are mixed up. I saw a Jackson Five disc between a bunch of DJ someone something session

So if you go to Mediamarkt, it is not a bit messed-up, it's awfull messed-up (prolly due to the Sales (Solden))
