...You need to provide a bit more content than "should I buy this", if you want a quick responce. Try hopping onto ebay and checking how much they go for. You weren't very specific with the exact models.. but it sounds like a ripoff to me, unless my numbers in my head are wrong.

considering wehter or not you have the cash....

ask yourself 1 question...

HOW BADY DO I WANT THESE THINGS?!

Posted by fr0st on Jun-22-2004 04:08:

I want the q pretty bad.... its for a yellow 1 keyboard and a microwave xt rack.... I dont know what more numbers you want the q is the yellow ver and the xt is the new orange ver.. I want the q pretty bad and they go for 900+ on ebay not sure on the xt... Both excelent synths....

Damn! Those are two synths I want. Thats a pretty good deal. Q's are around $1,000 for rack and 1,300-1,400 for fullsize keyboard. So throw in a microwave and that equals a good deal. That is assuming they are in perfect condition.

Check out www.prepal.com - they have used gear prices. Keep in mind that the prices they give there are a bit on a high end for the most. You should use their price listing as the highest price to pay for particluar piece of gear. As an example, they listed JD-800 for $800, where as on the average it has been selling for $600 on e-bay.

Also, review sonicstate.com and harmonycentral.com user reviews (they sometimes list the prices they paid). Bottom line, know what's the least you can get for it if you were to sell it a week later (in case you hate it).

If I don't know a piece of gear that well but there's a "want" factor - I try to research it first, see what others have to say about it and then try to find it the cheapest - just in case if I hate it, so I'd be able to sell it without loosing too much (if any) money on it at all. So far, I've been lucky.

Enjoy!
