Question Virus Powercore

2 questions really,

1 Whats the difference between the virus indigo for pro tools and the virus powercore with the regard to the quality of sound produced and how accurately it replicates a hardware virus?

2 How accurate is the virus powercore at replicating the hardware version of the virus? Does it use exactly the same sound engine?

I mean, its not like the v-station is it in that it just doesnt sound the same as its hardware counterpart?

Thinking of buying one you see but dont wanna be dissapointed.

Cheers/

Based on everything I've read on the Access site, the powercore version uses the EXACT same sound engine and algorithms, run on the powercore's onboard DSPs, so the sound quality should be technically exactly the same. Not sure about the protools TDM.

spot on
the powercore doesnt have the moog filters that are on the virus c, but it does sound exactly the same as the virus b, easy way to check is load up patches on the PoCo and the virus b, and they will sound the same.

There are few ore difference that Trancemasterbullshitter failed to mention.

First, the poco is modelled after the virus b/indigo models. Compared to the C/KC there are a few differences.

First vioces. c has 32, poco has 16
second moog filters already mentioned
3rd: doesnt have the eq thats on the virus c/kc
4th: the poco is 4 part multimbral (single user license) while the kc/c is 16 part.
5th:mod matrix sources , poco has 3, kc/c has 6
6th:mod matrix destinations poco 6 , kc/c 9
th: more simultaneous FX on the kc/c 16 versus 4 on the poco

It sounds almost exactly the same as the hardware equivalent, but because the virus has its own onboard dac converters, which are different compared to the ones on your soundcard they are slight differences in the sound output, not worse just different. But most of the time you cant tell the difference.

well it does sound "different" in a few cases.. but the difference isn't worth an extra $200 USD

and most of the time, the difference didn't make the hardware sound better. it just made it sound different
