digestive systems / bowells & all that

hello everyone.

ok, some might find this thread a little nasty, so if you're eating u might want to leave. nothin repulsive, just the occasional reference to poop

basically, poop is not as solid as it used to be. sometimes it's just a gush of water. and other times it's an assortment of little bits in a stream of liquid.

kinda botherin me. i usually get this after a night on the drink, but it seems a lot more common these days. i think i might go to the doc this weekend.

my diet aint the healthiest, but then again again, it's not terrible.

in the past month here's how i've been eating:

for breakfast (usually about 2 hours after i wake up), i'd have some alpen / muesli with a yoghurt. or 2-3 yogurts. i take the odd fry too..

lunch is usually some sort of meat, with veg, potatoes / noodles / rice. pasta the odd time too.

dinner, i usually take a pizza (shame on me!), or something which can be prepared easily.

anyways, has anybody else ever had any trouble with their insides?

i can take pics of my poop if you'd like to examine??

- Dave

my digestive system is totally fucked up due to me having crohns & irritable bowel, makes eating anything remotely strong or spicy a no-go zone cos of the pain it puts me in. The best thing you can do is find out what makes u feel worse & cut that out, but end of the day you have to learn to deal with it all one way or another

I suffered from irritable bowel for 3 years.
I 'highly' recommend Psyllium Husk.
It is a natural source of fiber (avail in most chemists/pharmacies etc & supermarkets).
It bulks your stools & basically gives you a more consistent crap. I mix it with O.J. then drink it, then drink the same amount of water(recommmended), directly afterwards to help it bulk up.
Also (as Ian^ said), it's best to keep an eye on what you eat to see what annoys you & avoid it.

......anyways enough of me talking shit

I googled it and apparently, "it is a relatively rare disease, occurring in approximately 1-5 people in every 10,000".

In answer to the question:

liquidy stool is the result of incomplete digestion. Drinking does it to you because it shuts you down and you stop drinking.

Having a bad diet where you constantly eat can also build up caked poo on the intestinal lining resulting in the inability to digest.

I would try some fiber or a colon cleansing (youd probably wonder why you havent gotten a colon cleanse before if you do get one ) if that doesnt work yeah go see a doctor. Because thats usually a sign of illness if it isnt the other stuff.

not as rare as it might be, I don't have it as bad as some people, but still can cause a lot of pain. one of my mates however has it really bad and it can give him absolute hell.

I've got ulcerative colitis, but I quit going to the doctor for it about 8 years ago. i just try and watch what I eat, and take vitamins and stuff.

I'm supposed to go in and have a colonoscopy once a year, but I have not done that either. I know, it's not the smartest thing to do when you have a disease that increases your risk for colon cancer like WAY HIGH... but I don't like doctors.
