Audio/Cable Question for the Vestax 275

I just upgraded from my Numark Matrix 3 to the Vestax 275.

One thing I noticed is that the audio was a bit louder when using my Numark then when using my Vestax. I didnt have to push my receiver as much with my Numark. I actually thought it would be the opposite.

I have it connected to a Denon Stereo receiver with 60w/channel and going to 2 Paradigm Titan speakers. I know its not a DJ set-up, but they are quality components for a basement set-up.

When connected to my Numark, I had the receiver set at half and the master on my mixer at half and it sounded perfect. Now I just cant push it to the level I want without distortion.

There are 2 types of outputs on the Vestax. I connected it to the master 2 output because master 1 didnt look like typical RCA connections. What is the master 1 connection? What type? Will it sound better then using the standard RCA connection?

I really dont think my Numark should sound better then my vestax. I feel like I upgraded for nothing.

According to the Vestax PCV-275 specs, master 1 is 1/4" jacks at -4 dBv, and master 2 is RCA jacks at -10 dBv. That means that master 1 is 6 dB louder (6 dB translates to twice as much power). Therefore you probably want to connect master 1 to your amp, so you need a 1/4" to RCA cable (assuming your amp only accepts RCA inputs). Your should be able to pick up such cables at Radio Shack (among other places).
