Portugal - England (Quarterfinals, 24 june)

England has been playing good soccer, just had bad luck with france, else they would had 3 victories
Portugal, well, it's recovering and getting better and better with each game and it's the host
So, classic question, who's gonna win?
Being portuguese, Portugal will win, being realistic, England will

ENGLAND ENGLAND ! Rooney will kick Couto's ass , and Ronaldo won't be there for the rescue

Posted by RenderedDream on Jun-23-2004 12:41:

fernando couto hasn't been titular, he only played some 10 mins against spain

I think we'l do it, confidence is high and we've got plenty of people who can score plus beckham and owen are both due a great game.

england 2 - 1 portugal

I hope portugal beat england. Just to shut those smarmy commentators up.

I have to agree about our commentators, John Motson pisses me off, tempting fate the whole time, he just has an annoying voice now, Barry Davies is much better!

damn..i just heard that 2/3 of the public will be english..things just got worse for portugal

Posted by jc on Jun-23-2004 14:10:

England will meet france again and this time it wont be a french victory

Posted by noikeee on Jun-23-2004 14:54:

england is stronger but i think we have a chance. also think this could be decided in extra time or in penalties..

I accidently voted for England, I meant to vote for Portugal! England always has high confidence, because they are very opportunistic (which is quite a good thing), but I don't they'll win! As I explained in some other threads they didn't really impress me! Portugal didn't either, but I think they are growing in the tournament

England will win...3-1 Lampard, Rooney and Terry will score.

And what about against Greece?
Well, I bought my flag so that I can support Portugal tomorrow, which means England will win. Rats.

Come on the England

i think 3-2 to england

Rooney to score 2, and owen to break his duck

Figo and Ronaldo to score. Figo to score from a set piece/assist from set piece, and ronaldo to score from a counter

I keep getting visions of extra time and possibly penalties...which of course, have haunted both countries over the years, but England more painfully I think. At least the Germans aren't in the tourney anymore to do it to us again!

Anyway, I think 2-1 to England, but it very well could be an English blowout. But if England lose a close one, I think Calamity James will have something to do with it. He scares the fucking piss out of me, just standing there and watching the ball in the air when he SHOULD BE MOVING ON IT!! The goalie gets away with a lot after all.

COME ON ENGLAND!! PLEASE DO NOT DISAPPOINT US AGAIN! It's time for the Cups to return home.

Posted by nettwerk on Jun-24-2004 11:59:

Still, I believe James is better than Ricardo. Our goalie has the great costume of walking out in corners, free-kicks... in every situation like that, I fear that he'll screw it up again, has he done so many times during the championship.

Having watched most of the games so far, England definately deserve it

Posted by Hanki on Jun-24-2004 14:48:

England must win this game! They're playin' much better than Portugal and they've Wayne Rooney!!! Come On England!!!

Portugal - England 0:2

Posted by Tim81 on Jun-24-2004 14:52:

Both goalies are weak! So I hope it will be a match with lots of goals... I expect some nice skills by C. Ronaldo! Goals by Nuno Gomes, Beckham (free kick), Owen (finally!), Figo and Maniche ---> 3-2 Victory for Portugal...

Posted by razmataz on Jun-24-2004 14:54:

James in on the verge of commiting one blunder that will cost England dearly and this game could be the game where he gets his "calamity" tag back. He was been good so far but at times is unconvincing coming for crosses and corners.

If any of you want to see James at his "best" watch the Eng-Por friendly in February, specifically one incident in the 2nd half where he literally dropped the ball at the forward's feet. Amazingly he wasn't punished for it with a goal and it was forgotten.

KarateKid

England will win. It's gonna be an awesome game, 2 Real Madrid players will play face to face, Backham vs. Figo. F@#* USA for not showing the match, that SUCKS

Posted by RenderedDream on Jun-24-2004 16:46:

My team Italy was unfortunately eliminated by those Ikea bastards so i am going to go for the hosts Portugal from now on.
