Trance = Vinyl??????

Hi all Trancer in this world,

I come from a country that is sick/lack of Trance (Original Single CD and Latest Vinyl are very rare here)

So i can only get trance music by CD-R/DOwnload Mp3s.. that is why i buy CDJ..

Now im curious.. must a trance DJ have TurnTable with Vinyl?????

Because i always see every Trance DJ use VINYL rahter then CD-R...

Can anyone tell me

play whatever medium you want, just make sure when you play out that you dont get into any legality issuse with your 'downloaded mp3s'

I'm betting Indonesia has some pretty lax laws when it comes to copyrights.

Ordering online is always a popular way to get your vinyl these days anyways. I don't have vinyl shops all over the place here, most of the good stuff I find online.

most big name DJ's are using CD's now instead of turntables
they are easier to bring with them. who wants to bring along a huge crate of vinyl when you can just carry a textbook sized CDwallet?
and also DJ's get sent lots of new singles that haven't been released yet and thus not yet pressed to vinyl

Okay, that's not really correct. Theres a lot of stuff on vinyl that may not see the CD shop unless it is pirated copies.

i think what he means is demo's coming from artists, i.e. ages before even the promo comes out. A lot of the big names will give each other cd's of their latest work and stuff to test out on crowds everywhere etc etc

but this is only really big league stuff we are talking about here, and doesnt really have much relevence to this... i wouldn't say a dj should just play vinyl or just play cd, but its always an advantage to be able to use both in terms of skills, but if you have trouble getting vinyl over there, then cd's really are the only viable option, you can pay for downloads at lots of places now.

if i were in your situation, i would reverse the way i do things. my setup has 2 turntables and one cd deck. as the best way for you to play music is cd's, with maybe the odd vinyl then have 2 cd decks, and 1 turntable

Order records online yo
I have seen some dj's use cds but the majority of them are not spinnin trance.Some are spinnin at strip clubs and some are playing watered down house at some bullshit nightclub.
