how are the clubs in korea as compared to say japan or china?
i mean like dance music clubs
i spent some time in korea, being that i was born there in seoul and i am half korean. anyway, there are clubs there, but you need to direct yourself more towards the international crowd than the american crowd (which tends to be 19 yr old soldiers). just go where the university students go. i had some of my best nights in seoul...once i didn't leave a club until 11:45am.
i hate all racial slurs, but for clarification, as for the "gook" statements...that was developed for vietnamese people during the war.
Have fun, drink a lot of Soju!
-The Peach
p.s. the food is amazing there as well as the shopping.

no, i have never heard that. the only thing i've heard americans call koreans before is "dak" which stands for "dumb ass korean"
hanguk = the country Korea.
saram = a person
thus, hanguksaram = korean person
miguksaram = american person.
people probably heard "gook" in hanguk and it just stuck. now it's used for derogatory purposes.
Seoul's got a nice, cozy club scene....a little bit of everything in terms of genres... I've been clubbing here for 7 years amd looking forward to this summer.
liquid goose, ah im so jealous! what i would give for some bi bim bap.
ok, so i looked up the origination of the word "gook." i was wrong; the term is for all asians, not just koreans OR vietnamese. It originated in the phillipines (dunno why). just thought i'd throw that tidbit out there.
also, i ran across something funny...i saw a site that had all these nicknames for half-breeds like myself, etc. some examples:
-"Blackipino"- someone who is black and filipino
-"Japorican"- someone who is japanese and puerto rican
-"Bumble Bee"- someone who is half black and half asian
etc.
-the peach
um, gooks isnt a derogatory term for asians
gooks was used by american soldiers to refer to the north vietnamese (VIETNAMESE)
chinks are chinese
japs are japanese obviously
some derogatory terms for asians are slant eye and rice eater, anyone that says gook is a racial slur for asians sucks at racial slurs

Lol I've gotten one stright up reply...it's all good though.
I'm going to Korea to go visit my parents who I haven't seen since summer 2001. I got family out there too, so it's more of a family thing than a recreational thing.
That doesn't mean I can't have fun though...
And yeah, Korean chicks are hot.
