-- 1200s Reverse?

1200s Reverse?

I used to see these advertised regularly, now I am wondering if anyone knows a good place to get the chip that allows reverse on the 1200s by pressing the stop button twice. Also, has anyone installed these or used them? I have a few modifications that I need to make to my turntables so I figured I would buy these also before finally opening them up and installing everything.

Get a decent turntable that can do it without any mods

didnt know there were turntables that could do this, mite be crud decks with wacky options in order to make up for the rest of their potential shittyness

Yeah... if it's not the same deck everyone's been using for decades it must suck, right?

OK so something like a stanton str8-100 can go backwards but then again how often do your really need to play a record backwards?...plus I think the stantons last probably 1/2 as long as a tech would.

Yeah, that's true. I have the reverse button on my decks and I've only ever used it once and even that was only just to see what that button does...

vestax pdx2000 also reverse, and it is far from being a shit deck (i rate them higher than technics, although not for the reverse )

it is useful if you play a genre which allows a bit more creativity and use of the brain, i love chopping little bits of random tracks in reverse in, when you get it right it sounds mint

but yeah, buy a deck that does it without a mod

All the wacky turntables are like that.If they would work on quality instead of features they just might oust techs.Instead they put mass features no one would use and make the motors the same as thier shitty lower down table.I would never buy a top of the line numark or vestax or gemini table for that reason

if u play like jeff does revese can be useful

however, the pdxs are poo imo, straight tone arms, looking like a toy, and the pitch delay just don't quite do it for me

Posted by Freak on Jun-24-2004 15:42:

like a toy
Couldnt have said it better myself

I would have never thought my question about reverse would bring on a whole debate on the better turntable. Hahahaha, every thread gets hijacked with that.

Son of a bitch! 45 pounds for one reverse module? Ouch.

EDIT: BTW, sorry for the consecutive posts.... didn't try the link till I had already posted the first one.

- that includes full blue led conversion kit too.

Hey, I dunno if the feature was either absent or I was too ignorant to notice it, but I don't recall seeing any button or anything that could make my old Techs 1200 MKII's play in reverse... Could someone please enlighten me on that? How can you play reverse on Techs? Do the newer models have a special button for that?

Posted by D Dubya on Jun-25-2004 02:58:

No, the newer models do not. What I was talking about at the beginning of this thread is that there is a chip available which plugs in the circuitry of the start/stop button which allows you to tap the button twice and it will play the records in reverse. Unfortunately, every kit I have seen is packaged with the LED conversion kits and are way overpriced for that feature. I would definitely buy it if it was cheaper though. You can do some really cool things with the reverse.

If you don't wanna rip apart your decks, you can always use the ghetto old school reverse trick w/ a roll of tape.

And what's that?

i would agree with the gemini comment, but i have to disagree with the numark and vestax comment. the numark tt-x1's are not shit at all, they are not my favorite deck and i prefer technics to them, but they are not as bad as you make out

and the vestax are just plain better than techs, (IMO) the motor is better, you know it..

i could go on all day banging on about how much better the pdx2000's are, but that would be thread-jacking even more than we already have
