All-computer production?
Any of you producers ONLY use a laptop or desktop to produce or remix tunes? If so, what are your setups like? (specs of the computer, types of software used, etc.)
I do all my producing on my pc, which is a 1.2ghz athlon w/ 1gb of ram. As a controller I use the edirol pcr30. It's not the greatest setup, and due to my old sound card I have issues with latency, but it works well enough. Oh yea I use cubase.
AMD 2500+ 1024 MB RAM, Cubase SX, but I bought a PCR 50 MIDI controller a while ago, I have only onboard soundcard..
Microsoft mouse with no scrollwheel
17 inch dell monitor
Dell pc, pent 3 866 384ram.
Reason 2.5
i use software only on a 1.6ghz p4, 512mb RAM, intel integrated sound and good old fashioned mouse and keyboard. i sequence with fl studio 4.1, free VSTis or demo VSTis (thanks native instruments, superwave et al!)
my songs are available from myself 'anthonyb' on soulseek in my d:\music\ folder. most recent song is 'anthony b - 5 am comedown.'
on that track i use free drum and fx single shots from breakbeat paradise, some fx loops from primesounds.com, mostly demo VSTi's like superwave pro, NI FM-7 demo (nooooo, it wont save any of my changes :O), NI Reaktor demo and the full Luxonix Ravity.

Tons of other stuff I never use
The results can be heard in my sig. If they're still online. Dunno.
Dell p4 1.3 ghz
256 ram
240 gigs hdd
works beautifully, although i could use something faster.

as you can tell im a noob
I'm using an Apple G4, 640 megs Ram, with Reason 2.5, at the moment hooked up to a hi-fi system (no cash for monitor speakers). It works good, the only thing that sucks is my production skill
I mostly use PC
P 3.0GHz
2G RAM
250G HD
Delta 1010
and tons of programs
I have a Desktop - A WallMart Special ($200) + a 512 MB Mem upgrade
1 IBM A20 Laptop connected to all the hardware
1 Gateway Solo 5300 Laptop a mini version of the Desktop
1 M-Audio Ozone (for travel+ ASIO card built in is nice)
1 M-Audio Radium
Acid 4 (my main environment)
Project5 (great for throwing quick patterns together)
Live3 (comming soon)
Reason (after I've mastered Live)
Too many VSTs to mention
Now, I have some hardware too,
Kawai K1, K1R
Roland D5,D10,S760
EMU Proteus FX, Orbit
MOTU Midi Time Piece + another cascading midi router
Alesis Midiverb, Quadraverb, Microverb, MMT8, SR16
But I havn't touched the hardware for a while now. Once you go digital, why go back? Only to transfer old material.
AMD 64 3200 with 1 gig ddr400
