Music Software

Hey guys, just curious, what are or is the best music program out their to play tracks on? Examples, Winamp (I use now), not Windows Media Player, but stuff like that...

I am asking because the quality of sound Winamp gives me, sounds pretty crappy. I know some people dont like the program, even though some do, I just want to get some feedback. Thanks.

Any version of Winamp with an equalizer. Sound is based on horsepower in your speaker system. Sound cards are a waste of money and time. When you can crank 400W (seldom can do that in a normal household), who really cares about a soundcard when the sound chip on the motherboard will produce? No difference between the two at high volume. Big difference if you waste money on expensive sound card and have weak ass speakers compared to using on board sound chip and powerful speakers. Uh, the on board and power wins every time....

I highly doubt that Winamp is the probem and not your sound card/speakers/audio files.

edit and Winamp's EQ is great if you like distortion... otherwise turn it off.

jetAudio by far...

it supports practically every single media format existing, from .avi to .mov files...

Invest in quality PC speaker system. 400W about $150, but these are speakers for life since you won't need any upgrades. 400W will drive everyone out of the house, including yours truly, but it's nice to have the power at arm's reach. 100W is normally enough.

Well, I only have the problem with Winamp. Ok, like if im listening to a song, and skip through it by dragging the slide bar, it kinda dissorts the sound, but it doesnt do it in Media Player. it also kinda sounds wierd while listening to tracks, I honestly think its the program. Someone suggested another program, I'll probably just try it, or just use only Windows Media.

What is the power of your speaker system? Winamp works for any speakers with extreme clarity. Don't need to go elsewhere. If you got cheap speakers your main problem may be that they are not securly plugged into your CPU. Cheap speakers sound like cheap music no matter what audio card is on the M/B. Truthfully at the chump level, problems are bad connections.

The distortion problem sounds like it's in the buffer settings, and the different sound sounds like it's in the equalizer.
