WOW! WOW! WOW!

Lets just say this: i give every DJ 3 chances to impress me before they no longer become a priority to see. PvD in Oct was ok. PvD at Bal en Blanc was poor. PvD tonight was INSPIRING!

PvD will always be on my priority list now - because after a glipse of him on his game 100%, I know he has the potential to do it again.

Great evening! Thanks PvD!

Awesome to meet and chat with so many new people. It was awesome to get to know a few more new-ish people much better on a personal level.

TA peoples are the greatest! Always will be, always have been. Love y'all!

I thought he ripped the kh a new asshole that night!?

So what you're saying is last nights performance was better than this? The man is unstoppable.

Tracklists? Did he play 1000 pvd productions again? haha If so, good! The man rocks.

That night @ KH was my first time seeing him. He didn't live up to the hype that everybody had (or the hype of what I expected).

Exactly. Tonight he blew me away. I was a little leary about his spot on the top100 until tonight.

PvD stopped signing shit and shook my hand when I (again) yelled out: "Vie gehts Paul? Vie gehts?".

Posted by rabbitjoker on Jun-25-2004 09:13:

THE GUV WASN'T PACKED!!!

It was probably only 75% capacity. Uber nice indeed.

Posted by E2EK1EL on Jun-25-2004 09:30:

Hope you guys enjoyed this event as much as I did!

Mark Oliver did such a good job on setting things up!

Here is my personal review :

PvD @ Guv 5yr (GUV)- STILL THE BEST SET TORONTO HAD WITNESSED!

PvD @ GUV 7yr (KH) - Good but alittle disspointing

PVD @ GUV - TONIGHT! FUCKING WICKED! 2nd BEST SET!

Flawless track selections(I only remember 2 vocal tracks ) & mixing was so GRIMME!!! Paul was so focused ... gave him 20/10 for mixing! A blend of old & nu skool TRANCE! Standing behind Paul van Dyk and watching him work the decks ... perfect timing for everything! He only looked at the laptop to select his tracks ... he didn't even bother with digital track graphs on final scratch! I salute you Paul! Outstanding set, and indeed made up for the Guv 7yr set! < --- 1000x better! Great to see all the TOTAz!

Hope to see everyone out to G2 (Global Gathering) & AvB Boat Cruise!

Sincerly,

John

PS.
"CELEBRATION!" <---- LMAO!

I could be wrong, that voodoo mix sounded like: "Asys - No More Fuckin' Rock'n Roll". I totally flipped out when i heard the voodoo sounds! And WTF - i missed da Nrg2Nfinit again!! god damn..

PVD's set was damn good! Totally banging... very proper track selection and mixing. I really enjoyed it.. also managed to get PVDs autograph, whatta cool guy for signing my ticketmaster envelope. w00 MO's opener wasnt bad either.. that was the first time I heard him play trance, not bad at all.

The Guv wasn't too packed, i had good dancing room thruout the night. The non-smoking guv kicks ass.

as always.. hello to the TAs i met up and chilled with for most of the night; ken, resnick, alan & his friends, dj ampz, rj, durafei, del (SSVD!! lol nice to finnaly meet you), mr sketchy, max, partegurl.. im missing names.

best night at guv yet!

Posted by High on PSI on Jun-25-2004 12:38:

I liked how the guv wasnt packed like it was for Tiesto... lighting/setup was really good, just as it was for Tiesto.

PVD was alright, played bangin tunes, but i would have liked it if he played a bit more of his own stuff.

he played Naranja, which i really liked, cant get enough of that song.

IMO, ferry on march 13th @ is still the party of the year to me

I left @ 4am... anyone stay till the end/know how long it went till?

Posted by starsearcher on Jun-25-2004 13:04:

The one thing that kinda uummmm I guess you could say I didn't get...like 20 people in front of the stage started chanting "OLE-OLE OLE OLE - OLE - OLE..." Were we at a soccer game at the same time weird....

Posted by tatgirl on Jun-25-2004 13:15:

One of the vocal tracks he played had female lyrics that went: '...just another f*cking love song'- I've heard it b4, but really liked the other mix better. Would like to know what track this is. Also played 'Sosei' (some breaks mix ill can ID), and Mr. Sam- 'Naranja'. Rubyriva can ID the rest of the set.

This was really the most a-typical PVD set I've heard- meaning, he didn't play too many of his own productions (that are overplayed to begin with), nor did he repeat any of his productions multiple times- WAHOO!!
Really thought I'd see more OG's of the TA's there... nice to see the usual, as well as mot10n (lost u in the crowd), wurm (don't leave us, man!!!), Del's gf Sally (who was celebrating her champagne b-day- 24 yrs, baby!), ran into guvaholic, and met Music Snob Not. And, as always, nice to be partying with TheNeonAlien, rubyriva & drizzt81 (the latter 2 who drove up from Syracuse)- so great to reunite, guys! I'm sure I'm missing a few more, so excuse me.

Best part of the night was after we'd left the club, turned the corner and spotted his limo waiting outside for him. Insisted Caryn (rubyriva) stop her car behind it and wait. For those of u who don't know her, she is THE ultimate PVD fan, complete with NY state "VANDIT" license plates. Her only problem is she 'freezes up' any time she's around Paul, and is always at a loss for words. Well, with her 'pushy American broad' friend around, I wasn't gonna let that happen. Within a min, he came out, we got his attention and showed him her plates, which really overwhelmed him. I made sure to tell him how she she's truly his #1 fan, how many times she's seen him (around the world), etc... He was very friendly, posed for a pic with her by the car(I REALLY hope it turns out good!), and now she's off to see him 2ce today in NYC.

Gotta go to work now. Crap....

Ya, I heard that too, and was like "WTF?!?!"

Jon- didn't think u were even there- turns out u were. Sorry I missed ya.

I can't wait to see him next saturday

Posted by starsearcher on Jun-25-2004 13:27:

OK proper review...now that I'm comfortably falling asleep on my chair at work

Got to the Guv at around 10:45...walked up to the building, no rain, no lineup...SWEET...although got my a little bit worries. When I was there just 2 weeks before to see Tiesto I remembered the lineup was already going around the curve. Anyways, walked in...nice and cool inside but something was WEEEEEIRD...something was DIFFERENT...and then all of the sudden it hit me...The main room turned from reddish/orange-ish to dark blue/blak...did anyone else notice this? Or have I been living on the moon and totally missed the change before

Anyway...walked around for about a minute and ran into TrickDadde and his girl right of the bat...that was sweet. We talked and chilled out for a bit while the place was slowly filling up. It was awesome meeting you guys by the way!!!

Around 12 the place started finally looking like the true Guvernment we are all familiar with...crowds, bomming sounds, and of course heat . Still though I'll have to agree with the rest and say that it wasn't that crowded, just the perfect amount of people and it wasn't as hot and as bad as previous events that I recall

As usual I claimed my spot by the stage and started shooting pics right away I was too nervous still to bring my digital rebel so I just worked with my Sony but the pics turned out amazing I'll put them up soon. Unfortunately the stage setup was a bit different than before and I could hardly get any good pics of Paul himself.

Just after 12 I met Dancing Queen who told me that if I forget about her one more time she's gonna hang me SO THERE...You know I love you The rest of the K-town crew as I call them followed shortly. I hardly saw any TAs up front though other than one guy who's name I forgot SirusKing and his crew and Durafei for a minute (It was awesome finally meeting you by the way!!!!) But later on someone told me they were all at the back but I didn't feel like moving backwards sorry guys.

So yeah to the good stuff now...Paul came on stage at about 1:17 or so and started connecting his laptop and getting his stuff together. The crowd of course wen't nuts -- It was great to see...Paul really looked like he was in a great mood and enjoying himself so I knew his set will be excellent right off the bat. He was all smiles, cheerful, and happy. I could honestly remember only a handful of tracks but of course Mr Sam - Naranja, Crush, Are You a Freak and etc are still stuck in my head. His mixing was AAAAWWEESOME and I loved the work he was doing on the mixer itself. Sound was crisp and clear indeed and the base was just SO perfect...UGH man I was having a good time. PartEgurl was her usual self social butterly running around trying to introduce me to everyone lol...you gotta calm down a bit

I finally got to meet DJ Ampz but I've lost the CD he gave me . I left it on the stage but when I came back it was gone . The dancing girls in the same outfits as from Tiesto were all there. Wiggling their g-string asses in our faces lol...I'm not really sure what was the purpose of that but 2 of them had nice asses so I didn't mind the stupid show after all...but then someone threw water at them and that was funny

After the show Paul came off the booth and spent a good 5 minutes signing stuff by the stage which was great to see Overall I had a really fun night...definitely one for the books and thumbs up for Paul.

RJ finally came to the stage area towards the end as well and we got some nice pics of him as well

Sorry if I missed anyone..."back to work" now

Man, the best podium dance was going on in the middle- with some brown dude with a shirt tied around his waist, dancing among 2 chicks. All he kept doing was pelvic thrusts, watching the sleeve of his shirt (that was tied) bounce up and down, as if it were his penis. Just kept air-thrusting, and the woman was clueless. He even went so far as to hold that dangling sleeve in his hand and give it a few wanks, as if really....!!! Was about to throw a bottle at his head, cuz he was really crass, when Gino boy in the lace-up crotch leather pants gets up there & starts doing his posing with his glowsticks dance, and was doing the 'pouting of the lips' move to NO END! I didn't know who to throw the bottle at then.... He kept turning around to the brown dude and telling him something (probably like 'dont steal my spotlight, dude'. Who knows.

Another entertaining night at the Guv....

and about that train whistle.... it's bad enough how annoying it is, but to make it worse by sounding it off at all the WRONG times??? I'm surprised PVD didn't throw a bottle up there to get them to stop the madness!

i'm sad i missed it too.

from the sounds of it, it was one of the best toronto gigs for PVD.

i wanna know from Del (if you went) was it better than that wednesday night at the guv and was it better than new york city at roxy. if the answer is no, then i'm ok.

Posted by starsearcher on Jun-25-2004 13:40:

Oh yeah one more thing....the whistling guy wasn't whistling Could it be we finally got to him??!?!?!?!

He was just holding up sings like "Who farted" and "Pump it UP" this time around

Nat, Scumfrog remixed that song, it's Amiel - Love Song. The Scumfrog Club Mix is awesome!

Posted by idream on Jun-25-2004 14:31:

Well lets start this one off by saying OMFG that was the first time that i have been to a party and not done anything and I must say I had amazing time. PVD's set was sooooo sick, Wicked tracks the entire night and the energy from him and Paul and the crowd had so much energy.

Had a great time meeting all of the TA's and everyone else that wasn't. Nothing to complain about at all the amount of people there was perfect there was enough room to dance and never had to wait longer then a minute for the bathroom and when ordering drinks that didn't take long either.

Off to bed now for a few hrs but will be posting more l8tr on !

THANK YOU PAUL !!!!
