Im pretty sure he doesnt. Ive actually had a lot of people asking me if i was a promoter as well. I just find Boa to be a fresh change to the scene, as well as having the best undiscovered talent in the city in Sean Miller. Oh yeah, that little sound system they have their is pretty good too.

Why is it a secret?
Yes, he does.

Why is something funny? I didn't think being a promoter was so odd..for anyone.

It seems to me that almost everyone who has attended Boa has been so impressed that they go out of their way to help promote the club. Its rare that you find a place that has patrons that are loyal to their customers, and care about their well being. Ill never forget my first experience there (opening night with Sander K). The place was rockin, every soul in the place were dancing their asses off, it got REAL hot. Around 6am, they decide to hand out sweat towels to anyone who needed them. As well, everywhere you look....bouncers, bartenders, resident dj (Sean Miller), hell even the owners - on the dance floor, smiles on their faces, soaking up the vibe. When you see these kind of things at a club, you cant help but want them to succeed. Thats why ive spoken so highly of this place, and help spread the word whenever i can.

I called him on it, and he denied it, so I guess it is a secret.

And I mean, fuck, it is one part malicious pretending to a punter in a public msgboard when really you're 1/2 part promoter. Just my two cents, but Sarah you can have your own opinion, I don't really mind.

I'm sure Boa is a fucking solid club, I'm just asking if he works for them?

Boa really has a friendly atmosphere, bouncers don't stare at you strangely when you ask them questions, people come around and thank you for coming out (which makes sense, you appreciate them throwing a great party by being their and they need you there to make sure next week is just as good or better), Sean parties with everyone when he's done his set (which was awesome this past weekend), and everyone actually seems to be having fun wandering around (not just picking their spot and staying their for the entire night). I've met tons of great people at Boa, both in the patrons and the amongst the staff.

Note: The cleanliness and lack of strangely cracked out 17 year olds is nice too!

Keep it up!

Oh the intrigue! Whatever, Cox was the backbone of GG. Without him the whole thing isn't nearly as good and the price suddenly becomes a lot more daunting.

Oh.
I'm just gonna mind my own business now...

but seriously, if you promote for a club, say so, and be tactful about it. No one likes to see anyone pumping up one club's events and knocking others, regardless of whether that person is employed for the club or not. However if it becomes apparent that the person DOES work for the club, his or her actions then speak for the club itself.

Food for thought.

If this is true, shame... Shame I say.

Jester

Hey nice, you guys finally started a thread about me

Now I've confirmed what I suspected all along (you were all infatuated with me and simply needed a justifiable way to start talking about me without seeming like creepy stalkers).

Cheers guys I'm lovin' it

I like how the quote that starts with "what I've been told is..." If you ask someone who went to the club what they thought, or asked numerous people... Were you not told about it? I get this feeling someone has a little too much time on their hands. Or a very odd alterior motive.

lol.. i think the question at hand is are you an official Boa promoter? (not that I want to know, but that's what this thread IS about )

btw. I can't wait to go to your club (jk.. hehe)

Posted by Form&Funktion on Jun-25-2004 19:04:

Simply put....why deny something that is true PH (if that is the case)? THat's the only thing I see here that is sub-par. If you are a promoter....fine, cool, good to see people take vested interest in venues and things they feel strongly about....but to deny it taints your aims or conduct.

Make it a little more qualitative here:

Do you work for boa, or any agent of boa for event promotions, event management, venue management, etc??

Posted by PartyHarlequin on Jun-25-2004 19:32:

YES!!!! This isn't some big secret, but it seems to have been made into it by someone's irrational paranoia (about what I'm not sure).

Honestly, I was a little put off by Halo20 PMing me out of nowhere without an explanation. It wasn't like "hey I do work for so and so... are you a promoter for Boa etc... Do I know you, do you know so and so...". I could tell he had a non positive motive behind the questioning as it was so blunt and without purpose or explanation (combined with what I've seen him post on here already). So I was A a bit suspicious of the whole thing and B it was a rather rude message, no hellos/goodbyes/yourstruly/cheers/a name of some sorts. Just an abrupt question from someone I'd never met/spoken to before.

I love Boa and everything they're trying to do for the TO scene. Everything I've ever posted about it is my honest opinion. And regardless of everything else I'm going to keep posting as usual

I'm sure everyone can sorta understand where I'm coming from in all this. And if you can't...

GO TO BOA!!!!!!

Cheers people, everyone have a blast on pride weekend, canada day etc... May everyone find the party that's right for them.
