PVD @ Spirit

Though I wished he had played fewer tunes that he played earlier at Central Park, it was one of the best sets I've seen him play.
Line was quick, at least for ticket holders, and the place was crowded as expected, but not packed like sardines (except maybe in the middle of the floor).

I see that Spirit has changed its sound system - used to be Funktion One speakers, now mostly JBL. Lights have been added to the stage (where the DJ booth is) and other parts of the club.

Posted by trunks1022 on Jun-26-2004 12:13:

erin... argh i didn't see u with the big group of TAs at either event!!! i was looking around too /sigh.

pvd at spirit was good, but not as good as summerstage. who cares if it was effing wet? summerstage was just high class all around. pvd brought out some really hard tunes at both venues.

he ended his night at spirit with an oldie...
condor 11 - you can kiss me

definitely the best i've seen paul spin in a while

ENERGIZE YOUR SOUL!!!!

I couldn't seem to find any TA's at Spirit. His set was alright. I didn't really like it in the beginning but it got better as the night progressed. Pretty nice venue, although the bass was killing my ears. Did anyone else notice that in the background they were showing clips from earlier that night at summerstage? That was pretty cool.

The highlight of my night was

Schiller Mit Heppner - Leben...I Feel You (PVD Edit)

I DIEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!

Posted by Haunted on Jun-26-2004 12:34:

yea i noticed, i was in one of the clips haha, i was like woahhhh

Posted by euphoria on Jun-26-2004 14:40:

Hey, I saw u too haunted...You were behind me some of the time but I kept leaving the TA's and coming back to a different spot near TA's. Didint go to Spirit but had alot of fun at SS. TA's know how to party!!

Posted by Enervate on Jun-26-2004 18:05:

I cant believe that asshole teased 'its time' during both shows and didnt play it. all we got was '......... its time ...........'

all in all best performance ive ever seen by pvd.

Posted by mets4012 on Jun-26-2004 18:18:

his set last nite was alright. some of the transitions he did i didnt really like but what can i do. could not find alot of ta's like liz said. by the end of the nite managed to say hi to some though. i really like that track Amiel - Lovesong (Scumfrog Remix) i really like the vocals in it they are awesome. all in all it was a fun nite.

Its 1 of 2 things... he either played with the intro vocals from the Kai Tracid Remix... or he got a Kai Tracid Dub.

Posted by sot on Jun-26-2004 18:35:

his spirit set was soo similar to the central park set. he started off with same track, and sort of started out the same way with breaks and went hard from there. i gotta say, jerry bonham did an excellent job opening up for pvd. jerry dropped infusion - girls can be cruel (sq mix), leama & moore - shades of red and the best of them all that bootleg of chable & bonnici vs sasha - xpand your ride, which was like 15 mins long but soo goood. def had a good time regardless of the similar sets. nice meeting alot of ta's that i never met before, not gonna go through names cuz im jus too lazy to think lol.

Posted by phoenixBEBE on Jun-26-2004 19:09:

yeah the set was too similar in a sense...it was still good tho..it was soo overcrowded it was crazy...there were these group of grls dancing next to me and my krew who were trying to get it on wid these guys, and one of the grls kept shoving her big ass into me so that was madd annoying...also add to that a fight that my bf had to help break up...then seeing somone passed out on the street in the back and undercovers asking me n my boi for id (he looks at my drivers license, then looks at me and gives me a thumbs-up i guess he thought i was much younger LOL ) iono i got madd tired early tho...summerstage wore me out...got there 11pm and left at 3ish, rather disappointed in myself since i tend to close parties but ehhh...this was my first time at spirit and i have to say that i really do like the venue and i hope that more parties are held there from now on -- good sign that godskitchen/spundae is starting july 2

Posted by phoenixBEBE on Jun-26-2004 19:29:

hmm does neone know IF that video mite be posted somewhere...liek on his site???! man i only saw a lil bit of it, not all..-=[

Posted by vadushka!!! on Jun-26-2004 19:50:

Good times!!!

One question, where the hell were the tracks that used to set that building ablaze.

i may have been right next to you during that your boy have a white bandana and hat?

i was waay too tired from traveling and from summerstage to hack the spirit crowd. after spending 30 minutes on one of the boxes, i tried to dance on the floor but just ended up bobbing my head since it was so crowded. gotta admit, NY knows how to party. wish i had enough energy to stay the whole night but i ended up leaving around 330 to pack for my flight

Posted by DarkFall01 on Jun-26-2004 21:17:

Spirit was great, def a good idea from his side to play lots of techy stuff

I agree on what was mentioned before, the tracklist was very similar to the one from SS and some of the transitions, he could've done better.
I still had lots of fun, it was my first time at Spirit too. My only complain is that it was way too packed

It was nice seeing Stasis and drizzt again...
