coming to miami for about a month in mid august ... suggestions?
so due to some crazy happenings recently, i'll be in miami for about a month in mid august. this is a sort of business related thing (long story), but the bottom line is, i'll be staying in an extremely nice house on the beach rent-free, with owners that may or may not like me going out to clubs all the time. so i'm wondering if you guys know of anything in advance that i can't miss, or things i should do? i won't have my own car so it might be tough, but i'm open for suggestions, since i might be able to pull a few off 
.
i'm also wondering what the weather is like around then? i am from seattle and thus i already know that i am going to DIE of heat stroke (it was 70 today and we all complained because that's so hot for us 
), but i'm still curious about average temperatures. harrrgh, i might actually have to go buy shorts and get used to an extremely horrible sunburn, since i'm quite pale
anyways, any thoughts would be appreciated.

this forum is really lively... is it just that no one is friendly/helpful?
clubs, restaurants, sightseeing, i really don't care.. i'll be there for 5 weeks so anything would be helpful and appreciated.
Hey, im from Seattle. Its beautiful there. I live in Orlando. Florida is hot and fun. Many shows, just look in this forum for upcoming events around the time you plan to be here. Clubs to go to Corbar(Edgar V), Space,Mia lounge(not really a club but good djs play there on mondays), donno the rest. Miami peeps know it good, ask them. Deffinatly go to south beach, you'll find some flava there. Pvd is the 4th of Septmber so there will be TA meetups then. Sorry if i couldnt help much. Hope others can. Lates

Just walk up and down washington avenue on south beach saturday night, you'll find something.

i strongly disagree with darkangel on one point. crobar is IMHO the best club in miami.....

haha, ive tried to respond to this twice in the last day but the cookie settings are fucked up, maybe itll work this time!
pvd on the 4th! very exciting... and i'll be there too, cause i don't leave till the 18th of september! hopefully wherever it's at is easy to get to by cab or something, from the house i'm at. i probably should find out the address so you guys can tell me if it's in a neat area or not 
what's so bad (or good) about crobar? and what's your scene like anyways? any sort of crazy dress codes, etc?

id just like to say how much i love mosquitos. they are truly my favorite of all insects, them being the noblest creatures who are always looking out for me, and MANGLING MY BODY EVERY FUCKING DAY.

that was me the first day i got here, the next day i had an allergic reaction because im not used to mosquitos, and they are still here a week later. i have about 50 on each leg, at least 10 on each arm, all over my fingers/hands, even some on my neck! and somehow even though i refuse to go outside now looking like this, i get new ones daily! wooooooo

OMG! Just remember don't scratch the bites you can cause infection and that's not fun at all (i learned by experince)!! Just have fun and Go down to the art distric. Each time I have came to Miami I have missed going there and you seem like the person that would enjoy that.
Well, the last week of August, the MTV VMA's are gonna be in town, so there will be something to do for the entire week. I'm not too sure what you are into, but based on that you can check out various clubs, since a lot of them will be doing parties for the VMAs. Just go to South Beach...you can't go worng with that.
Where exactly are you staying down here? I dunno if you are here yet, but it is hot as balls down here, so bring lots of tank tops and some shorts. Bring an umbrealla also, becuase the weather is a little screwey down here.

I don't live in Miami but been there numerous times. Yes, hot is an understatement. If there's anything I dislike about Miami, that's the weather. Clubs there are definitely worth the torture though. Crobar is a good start if you are on S. Beach. Mansion is around the corner but they play mostly hip hop. Nice club, poor music. BED is good on Wed night. Opium Garden plays house and hip hop in separate rooms. Then Space of course, my fav club, is less than 15 min away. Hope this helps.
