US TA's - Join the Marijuana Policy Project's email list

For those TA's who live in the US and are for ending marijuana prohibition in the US, this is for you.
I'm currently collecting email addresses for the Marijuana Policy Project's email newsletter. The newsletters contain info on current lobbying efforts or upcoming bills dealing with marijuana prohibition in your area and around the country.

Heres where I fit in, the MPP has asked their current newsletter recievers to help get the word out that the movement is growing, and the more people that know whats going on, the more people there are to respond.

For every valid email(they'll send a confirmation email to the address given), I receive $1, ($1.25 if i send in the list electronically). I need a minimum of 50 emails to send the list in and I just started so I have about 15.

If your interested in receiving updates on the ongoing fight against mariuana prohibition then please PM me your Name, email address, and Zip code. There is no fee for signing up either.

First names will do, the zip code is required so the MPP can match you to your representatives in your area, so you can contact them when there are upcoming bills.

Please join the newsletter, not only will you be more aware of whats going on with the legalization efforts, but you will also be helping a broke college student as well.

If you want to learn more about the MPP just go to www.mpp.org, but please dont sign up for their newsletter through the site, because I will not receive the $ for your sign up.

Thanks
Eric Seifer

I wonder what the full potential of medical marijuana is. Seriously.

mmmmmmmm drugs...

No I did not spend money to make money.

The title given is petitioner, as someone said earlier.
I'm collecting email addresses for their email newsletter mailing list.

Marijuana shouldn't be considered a drug, or atleast not in the same group as coke, heroin, etc. Its medicinal properties have to be considerable as I dont think the numerous state medical associations that have approved it would have if it didn't.

Believe the propaganda commercials if you want, but be aware that your tax dollars are being used to Illegally fund anti-marijuana campaigns in several states, and if you'd like sources for this and other statements I'll send you a copy.

You can turn a blind eye to the subject now and dismiss it, but this will not just disappear. Everyday the movement gains momentum, but If you dont know whats going on or how you can help, it will take longer than it should.

its illegal for federal dollars to be used to make anti-illegal drug ads? What was that whole Just Say No campaign about....

I really don't wanna sign up becasue it gives you $1. You should not be profitting from this, why don't you volunteer like the rest of us. Once you involve money, something fishy is going on and we never know the whole truth.

and if your having this much trouble getting people to sign up with you, maybe people don't want to pass these bills.

It is a potent pain killer and also has numerours psychological benefits. Perhaps its largest benefit is the ability to alter an individual's perception on a current situation, a larger more detailed circumstance, or even their general world view. Removing the prohibitive legal code and taxing these substances could mean much more money for the government as well as opening the book as wide as possible concerning reserach on the various chemicals contained.

I'm not saying that using federal $ is illegal, it was misused, and should have been used for something more worthwhile.

So because I was asked to collect email addresses, and offered $1 for each, I'm the bad guy? I'm just trying to find some extra funds for college, and in the meantime helping out a cause I think is worthy.

This may be true, but there are many people who dont know both sides of the story. They hear only what is on the news, or on the anti-marijuana commercials, which are biased to say the least. The purpose of joining the newsletter mailing list is to be informed on whats happening right now, and how you can help(letters to reps, etc).

As for legitimacy on my part, http://www.mpp.org/petition

i believe you are legit...

and I noticed that first link was from Nevada. Isn't the dead line already up for submitting signatures there. They were short but they found another 6,000 and wanted to add those in now. I havent head much more about it yet though.

ok im rambling, good luck.

Posted by Eric Siefer on Jun-29-2004 05:13:

Yea the nevada bill was unsuccessful, that was the only relevant link I could find in my emails on short notice.

Texas is on the way to getting a bill introduced though(IMO), the Texas Medical Association has already given doctors the right to prescribe medicinal marijuana, although under extreme need.
