I cant believe myself!

ok..here is me, a guy who by all means would NEVER call myself a racist, im white and I dislike white people in general more thant all other races. So of course I didnt think I would be one to see a afghani/saudi or whoever POSSIBLY did this and be mad @ them, you know the fear in the muslim community of a backlash, bla bla bla, welll...

Today im on the train, and there are more middle eastern people on the train than I have ever seen before..and lo and behold, inside me there was this rage burning! Now I know that the guys I saw most likely have no relation(politically or otherwise) to bin laden or the taliban, but I was still outraged. It makes me feel all dirty that I am generalizing an entire race because of the actions of some fuckin lunatic! ya know?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!!!

Right now im upset with myself, and cant believe that I had these feelings. I think I need to go look @ some KKK footage so I can feel better about myself, back to my hatred of my own race...

Is anybody else feeling the same way I am?

Posted by Miss Proximus on Sep-13-2001 17:11:

I think it's human to act that way, although i dissapprove of this kind of behaviour...

don't feel bad, at least you didn't act by these feelings j

maybe you feel like that because you don't know the enemy, and you also don't know these people on the train so you naturally connect them to the enemy in ur heart (am i making sense????)...
well....i can't put this in the right words..sorry

Posted by j_spot on Sep-13-2001 22:13:

I sure as hell hope this feeling goes away. I know tonight is gonna be bad. I have a dance @ a very ethnic school...Im prolly gonna be burning with rage, but not be able to do a thing about it.

Posted by fastmp3 on Sep-13-2001 22:32:

just don't hurt someone like me because he's an arab or a muslim ... i have all the fucking reasons in the world to hate americans and europeans but i don't hate them and i never felt rage against them (even though i should sometimes) ...

Posted by j_spot on Sep-13-2001 22:38:

oh I would never act on my feelings, unless I saw somebody celebrating. Then they are gonna get floored, no matter what race. Same with KKK, Nazi, you show that you are PROUD of that in front of me, and im likely to TRY to beat you so hard that you wont know whats happening

Hey j_spot im down with what your saying on that one. Like when I saw the news footage with all the pakistani people celebrating. I was like WTF? even the little kids were. that was the time that I thought we should just nuke them, all of them and not care...... Sorry about getting off that subject, what i was trying to say was that its good that you have such strong feeling for our country, its just natural to feel like that. take care man..peace

Oh yeah btw I need to say that this is my 200th post!!! WOO HOO

Idea How to get over it!

Get to know us!
I am a Palestinian. I'm working with an activist organization for Peace, Human Rights, and the environment @ McMaster University.I work with Jews, Americans, Canadians, Europeans...everybody! We have different opnions but we talk about it, and try to figure out each other. The problem with the world is that we all live together yet are isolated from each other. I have seen the east and the west and I know that they know almost nothing about each other. For example in the middle east many hate Amercans because they think that since the US is a Democracy the people must be ok with 1,500,000 Iraqi people killed by sanctions because the US Gov. no longer likes it's dectator which it helped get into power and armed. If the world had no borders and everyone had one passport "Human" Things would be a lot more Fun and we would be forced to anderstand each other!

" we made you from different Nations and Groups so that you will get to know each other, learn from each other, and work together" - Koran

Beat your head on the wall until u cant feel the pain no more, than your eyes will clear and u will see the truth .
(man dont take me seriously for devils sake!)

annyway ya I think I know what u mean I dont get angry but I do
understand u.
But this all thing is so blowed up by media(well I can understand it I gues}I mean some people (bush) seem to jump too conclusions real fast.
IT HAS NOT been proven that it was him.
and never less all asume it was, thats sad I mean he may be happy for the attack whitch isnt wery nice but is that enough to pin it on him??
by the way I think he likes the attention.
Also I ask "was he convicted of anny previous crimes against USA before?
cause there is $5 000 000 prize on his head. posted by FBI

Posted by j_spot on Sep-14-2001 05:33:

as far as I know, he has never been convicted, BUT @ the same time he claims responsability for the bombing of several US embassies (Kenya and Libya I think), the USS cole(there was another planned attack, but it was thwarted) and army barracks I believe(not sure of the last one) so i dunno..that could be a good reason for him to go #1 on the most wanted list

Posted by Thor on Sep-14-2001 07:07:

Glad you realized that hate was wrong, its just anger inside you, I think that since you realized it was silly that makes you a better person than all the ignorant people I've seen speaking about genocide against arabs, etc...

Judging an entire race of people based on a few extremists is so wrong, hell theres plenty of white extremists, does that make every white person bad?

So many of these people are saying things about the middle east and they don't even know anything about it. Its sad people don't take the time to learn and see that the middle east isn't as bad as CNN makes it out to be

Posted by hypronix on Sep-14-2001 07:24:

I don't know how many of you know about the first atck on the WTC back in 1993. Bin Laden took responsability.

about U j-spot, be relaxed, there's nothing wrong with U particularily, it's the way human race has been enginered. I have these thoughts about the gypsies in my country, and sometimes tend to generalize it to a whole race just bc it happened to me with a certian guy... stay cool. U R okay!

that is a wicked quote d00d

of course we all feel angry.. maybe the feelings u were getting were some way of venting the anger inside of u...

its not right though mate, heres one way of putting it.. over the many years the IRA have bombed countless buldings, cars and people, probably in total killed more people than this whole WTC thing. but i dont hate all the irish because there are mostly good irish people, allbeit catholic or protestant.. but its the extremeists that take it that one step further. that is what the ppl that did this are.. so its best to try and think of them as different, simply because they are

Re: Re: How to get over it!

What happened is not strange at all. It's human as they said earlier, and we can't blame you and shouldn't.
But the fact that many people get angry and even hate foreign people as a consequence of what happened is very sad. I feel sorry for innocent and good foreign people in the states. This could also make rasism grow. That's tragic.

Posted by ripcurl on Sep-14-2001 12:42:

i think its more than humen to feel this way, but when you understand that these feelings are wrong its ok.

look, im from israel and if someone need to feel this feelings about the arabs that is me, but no, of corse im not happy about the terror actions and i hate the terrorists, but the rest of the people are o.k, i met a guy from ciriya (enemy country) and we talked and he was great we even shock hands.

so you have to understand the diffrence between feeling something and doing something about it.

That is one of the most brilliant quotes I've heard - it makes perfect sense just now.

I think you should add that to your signature man!!
