Shipping turntables from US ebay sellers.. $$$?

I posted this in the Dj Booth forum as well, but i wanna hear from people in this area...

So have you ever bought turntables/mixer from a US ebay seller? How much did you have to pay for shipping?

Did you have any problems with duties?

I got my M3Ds and DJM600 from eBay and someone in the USA.

A few tips:

- Have them insure it for full value.

- Duty is based off insured value - if you skimp on insured value to avoid duty and your shit is pooched, your loss

- Ship it UPS ground I think I paid $40 for the turntables and $25 for the mixer.

i had bought my cdjs from ebay in NY,paid almost 250$ Taxes and shipping.

Not cheap , this was done through UPS.

In the end i never used them and sold them of to dj_science.

You dont want to buy until you have a good deal and match it up for shipping prices, including taxes

I suggest looking around locally, its not worth the pain and hassle of contacting the merchant abroad, if something does go wrong.

I can't remember what I paid for shipping on my 2 numark 1650s, but I remember being slapped with an $80 import charge when they arrived at my door.

Haha, I used those at sciences party in waterloo few months back and fell in love with em. hahaha. Got me a pair from (guess where) NYC. My show co-host is picking them up this friday as she is singing in the city. she will be like "i used them at the show" when she brings em back so not to pay shipping on em. lol

If its independent then you could get them to send it to you as a "gift". Then just get them to slip a "happy B-day 404 Science" Card in it. I was going to do that. Worth a shot right?

Hey:

I'm a happy Ebayer and have bought almost all my stuff online.

I bought a Pioneer 600 for $790 US and with shipping it was still about $500 less than I couyld get it up here.

Turntables are heavy, and I paid $78 for shipping two Stanton STR8-80s. One didn't work when it got here and the people I bought them from shipped me a new one at their expense.

If you use UPS pay for Expedited Service and it includes the Customs Charge. If you get the cheaper service, they charge you $38 to act as your customs broker. It works out usually in your favour - and you get the stuff faster.
