Smoking ..umm..something DJ Yakov's July 2004 Music Chart (w/ audio)

Hey all.

Chart update for July 2004:

1. Benni Benassi - Love Is Gonna Save Us (Original mix)
2. Filterheadz - Yimanya (Original and TDR remix)
3. Eric Prydz - Call On Me
4. Coca Y Villa - La Noche (Full Guitar mix)
5. Estelle - 1980
6. High Contrast - Twilights Last Gleaming
7. Joris Voorn - Incident
8. Flash Brothers - Amen (Lys and Gigi's remix)

Now, here's a kicker -- I put together short samples from those eight tracks into a single MP3 file. This is a new concept I am trying out, so tell me how it works... The way I see it, there's no point in making a chart of interesting music if nobody out there can actually hear it.

I would urge other DJs to do the same thing with their stuff -- keep the samples low quality, keep them short, but let us hear what you're charting.

Amateur DJ's Promotion - Even if you aren't "amateur", this is the place where they all share charts, sets and bandwidth.

Well, the tunes in my chart are actually up to DISCUSSION since I since provided samples Curious to hear if anybody else enjoys that sort of music.

That, and I also don't consider myself an amateur anymore, since I've played about 200 club gigs last year.

It's ironic that your status is "tranceaddict" then.

DONT POST HERE AND GO BACK TO THE GU BOARDS! We don't need people like you here.

Hey man,

Well, I have more faith in TA than that I registered on TA before most people have even heard of it (look to the left -- April 2001).

I think it's great to expose people to new music. Hopefully this chart will do that -- it might expose people to a couple new music genres they might not be familiar with.

Now thats the type of attitude we need around here.

Fuck off back to the GU board or whatever prog elitist hole you came from then.

Posted by nennon on Jun-29-2004 22:10:

Gentlemen, let's be civil. The TA vs. GU thing is never gonna get better if people keep fueling the flame.

Posted by james sound on Jun-30-2004 00:09:

u trance fuckwits are soo pigeonholed.

there are many genres out there other then trance and prog. and for the record i listen to anything thats good; electro, funky, deep, techy, progressive, clicky, whatever house, even some breaks.

trance has gone down the shithole for years now, nothing innovative, new, fresh. now mark my words, im not some prog elitest, im fucking far from it. prog has its disadvantages too.

now this really isnt related to the topic but i fucking hate dj's that play one genre the whole time! how boring is that? i can't possibly understand how you guys can like tiesto, armin, pvd and the like. i mean doesn't that shit get old? what do you get from it? goosebumps?

really..

get out of your tiesto / armin / pvd / insert lame artist here worshipping phase and listen to the good music out there! there are many dj's right now that are pushing the boundaries of music such as desyn masiello, luke fair, etc.

how one can sit down, listen to a set from someone such as desyn, luke, sander or what not and still enjoy tiesto?

fuck if i know.

people have different opinions than you. some people can enjoy a set by a trance DJ even though they listen to 95% prog / tech house.

like you said yourself, listen to what's good. just because you hate the shit doesn't mean everyone else has to.

yep.

is your copy of the chiapet track pressed hot?

especially the intro...

mine is..

Posted by UWM on Jun-30-2004 00:47:

indeed. ive heard the same of others as well.

Posted by torontotrance on Jun-30-2004 00:47:

Why do you think everyone on this boards listens to PvD, Tiesto and company. Stop thinking everyone does that, I mean I listen to trance but I sure as heck don't listen to armin, ferry or PvD anymore. I listen to a ton of other genres as well but who says one genre is right and one is wrong.
