Talking Jag <3 "Den Osynlige"

Tja!

After watching "fucking ml", one of my favourite films ever, I decided to watch this other Swedish film ("Den Osynlige") and I must say I'm really amazed - it's excellent. So I was wondering if you guys could give me more info on Swedish cinema, recommend me some more titles and, if possible, where I could watch/get subbed versions (as long as the subtitles are in English, Portuguese or Spanish, I guess I can handle it ).

Tack s mycket

I think "Den Osylige" is okay but not more than that.... A really great Swedish movie that you must check out is "Onskan"... I'm not a good moviecritic but it's a really strong film with great actors.

hehe, a typical swedish movie, IMO, is: "Under Solen" see it!
and the "Beck" movies are quite known as well.. perhaps not the best, but still swedish.

"Ondskan" is called "The Evil" in English

If you liked Fucking ml, which I think is a wonderful film, you might like Lukas Moodyssons other films:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0600546/

"Tillsammans" (Together) is as good as Fucking ml. Its a film about the problematic life of a group of idealistic hippies in the 70s. Had some international success so you will probably be able to find it.

Det Nya landet is great too, but its a tv series so you might not find it.

One of my favorite films of all time is "Snger frn Andra Vningen"(Songs from the Second Floor) by Roy Andersson. Very surrealistic and pretty confusing, but beautiful scenery and dialogue. Might seem pretentious, but to me a lot of it is made for fun. I laughed my ass off when I saw it.
You either love it or hate it. When I saw it in the cinema, half the crowd left before it ended.

Ingmar Bergman (Fanny and Alexander, The Seventh Seal etc etc) is the most famous Swedish director of all, but he's a bit too depressing and slow for me.

While in Scandinavia, if you haven't already you might want to check out the Dogma 95 bunch; Von Trier (Europa, The kingdom, The Idiots, Breaking the waves, Dogville etc) and Thomas Vinterberg (Festen).

There's a great Norwegian film called Elling about the life of two mantally disturbed friends that I warmly recommend too.

A good swedish action/thriller trilogy:

Noll Tolerans / Zero Tolerance

Livvakterna / Executive Protection

Den Tredje Vgen / The Third Wave

Thanks for the recommendations

The only one I had already heard of was "Jalla Jalla" (I missed the opportunity to see it in the cinema and I couldn't remember the name) - and everywhere I read about it, they say it's fun. The others are completely new to me, and I'm looking forward to watching them as well.

I've seen "some" of the Dogma 95 stuff (and by "some", I mean "bits" and "parts", as I rarely manage to watch a whole film on TV), and although the concept seemed interesting, they also seemed a bit slow.

Maybe it's because I was clueless of what it was about, so when I started to watch it, I was being surprised all the time

yeah, linlja 4 ever is kinda cool too.

i'm not sure i like his films that much tho, they feel so... hmm.. communistic?

"Lilja 4 Ever" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0300140/) is one a really nice piece, and i have never seen anyone not feeling sad or angry seeing it, it's based on a true story, they showed a documentary on swedish tv called "Lilja 4 Real", which gave the whole story and providing extra pieces that was left out in the film,

I haven't seen many swedish movies, but Jalla Jalla! is definitely worth a shot

and Smala Sussie

Den Tredje Vgen (The Third Wave) is said to be the greatest work in swedish film history. I haven't seen it myself but with critics like that, it can't be bad

Once again, thanks everyone

Lilja 4-ever looks interesting: I found a summary of her true life (which seemed touching indeed) and I liked the trailer's trance background tune, even though I've read the soundtrack is mostly rock I wonder if the trance tune was produced by a fellow TA

And that being said about "The Third Wave", I believe it must be less hard to find it then (and it seems worth searching).

I'm gonna go look for all these titles now

I saw it on dvd last week and I think it's very overrated. The first two is much better in my opinion, but it's worth seeing though
