Official Review: Armin @ Vibe, in Ottawa

Comments?

omg he played White Room!

If you liked it harder/epic and more "progressive" than it was good, but IHMO it wasn't truly his style. I was hoping for more uplifting/vocal tracks like his set at surface last fall, but he didn't play many. The prog fans of MV sure got a treat tho. Sorta disappointed in the end.

good night, good event

some issues with teh bouncers at the door but thats not the organizers fault.. room was a sauna but it was pretty nice aroudn the dj booth.

Some tracks that i remember:

I think he opened with sarah mclachlan - world on fire (junkie xl mix) then after he dropped marco v - automanual ( I THINK:P)

the rest in no particular order:

white room - white room
above & beyond - no one on earth (g&d mix)
mark norman - phantom manor
william orbit - adagio for strings (tiesto mix)
AVB - Communication 2004
Roland Klinkenberg - Monday Groove
Randy Katana - in silence (txitarro mix)
8 wonders - the morning after (thrillseekers mix) <-- FUCKIGN TUNNE
dj ton b - dream machine
Oceanlab - Satellite (some remix)

Some that im not sure off:
nu nrg - free fall ??
K system - Guardian Angel (Cosmicman remix) ???
Filterheadz - Yimanya ??
im sure he played like 3 signum tracks
also im pretty sure he played Gouryella - Tenshi :P or a tune that sounded really close to it!

but i agree, i liked his set at surface better.. he mixed in more classics with new tunes, which made the night awesome.

He did play Free Fall.

I too was hoping he'd play a little different style, but all in all, he mixed a decent set.

The room was crazy hot though, and the sound system was ridiculously distorted compared to Guvernment the week before for PVD. I walked out of Givernment without having ear problems, but last night, I could barely hear what my buddy was saying to me.

ok, you guys are being to kind, the night was pretty damn lame.

the bad:

-where did the air conditioning go?
-wtf is up with the bass? everyfucking song sounded the same cause the bass was set so fucking high!
-pretty damn garbage music selection. most of the time i didn't even feel like dancing. oh and the worthless remixes of classics didn't help
-all the people cutting into the crowd cause they wanted to get closer...like fuck, can't you just stand in one place for more than 5 min?!?!
-the floor was fucking wet and covered in some type of engine oil or something. now my iverson jogging pants are completely fucked. thanks vibe.
-30$ tickets...

the good:

-there was one really good song, i know the tune, but don't know the name or even the producer.haha
-tiesto's barbers strings for adagios

conclusion:

-little fun, too fucking hot, bad music selection, expensive tickets, my pants are ruined...not what i expected...

Actually, I agree... but to be honest, I didn't really let those things get to me. Other things were on my mind...
