Hardcore Cheddargrater
Question:
Has anyone here who appreciates the finer side of trance and techno had serious difficulty in explaining the difference between quality trance/techno to people or in my case relatives who are into what I call cheesey music?
I'm at my wits end and although I have relatives who agree with my DJ'ing, production and listening at parties choice in music there are still some half-witted no-brained people and other relatives who want to listen to what I can only describe as cheese. This includes happy hardcore, or what could be decent trance/hardtrance with women singing which sounds like the cartoon "the chipmunks" with an overactive pulse.
I know that there is only two kinds of music, good and bad and I shouldn't diss other peoples choice of music but surely someone can relate to what i'm on about.
Examples: DJ Mangoo, DJ Pulse? Cheese or no.....?

They arent rock, hip-hop or r'n'b fans, just children of a bygone hardcore/happyhardcore era (rezerection, rotterdam) which gave birth to trance, e.g, union jack, FSOL, The react label, where Carl Cox started (albeit acid house a few years previous) etc. They just dont understand EDM as it is now. Maybe I can't fully explain my gripe but there are so many teenagers in Glasgow like this right now its unbearable, surely i'm not alone....
Just make it clear whats cheese and whats not.

I wasnt saying fsol were hardcore, just that they started up making music around the same time as I was into happy hardcore, the early nineties so as happy hardcore died away, bands like FSOL, Art Of Trance and individuals like union jack started making quality trance.
some of you are lucky..i have no friends that like edm, its all hip hop and rock..no problem with it, its just a pain in the ass when you want to have a good conversation about trance, that doesnt involve typing
i've realised during the years that it's absolutely impossible to "convert" 95% (obviously made up statistic) of my friends. the other 5% are eventually open-minded and will like some of your stuff, but respect their musical tastes and don't try to jam down their throat your entire HD to force them to have the same taste that you have, cause that is just never going to happen.
I know you're right Paranoik0, I wouldn't expect anybody to change their musical taste just because of what I say, besides the people i'm talking about are too stupid to know what good music is anyways...
