How to get my friends listen to trance
Hey , I live in a community where everybody listens to rap.My friend me introduced me to it and now im addicted to it . I want introduce trance to my friends , but I dont know how to start . I put on some songs from Tieto`s Just be and the almost crashed the cd player with
a baseball bat
Do you have any idea how I could get them to listen to trance . Give some songs names
Just kill em. PM me if you need help.![]()
Nu-NRG - Freefall

Two key ingredients
(1)Vocals
(2) Cheese
what kind of rap do they listen to?
cause the strategy you use should greatly depend on what kind of music they already listen to
They listen to cheesy "50 cent " and g-unit. Hardcore rap is what they call it.
hmmm
thats gonna be tough as fuck
i'd say as a first step try to get them to listen to some good hip-hop, but thats just me
maybe you could first start off by introducing them to do good DJ work or something
try Journeys by DJ by DJ Coldcut
maybe something by tricky?
ooh actually try showing them some RJD2
he's got respect in the rap community too, he's done a shitload of amazing collaborations with big rap names, but also does some really good electronica
i think the key is not just trying to get them straight from rap to straight electronica
find some middle ground for them to get used to first
actually DJ Shadow might be worth a shot too
cause a lot of his stuff has beats and such similar to rap, but the progressions and style of the songs are more similar to other electronica
and not many vocals either, which is something that a lot of people think is weird about trance
good luck!
here's a suggestion....
why dont you just forget about it.
does it really matter that your friends listen to the same shitty music as you do?
NO! it doesn't.
With all that said, if you still want to impress rap people, show them some good old progressive house.
they like it.
or at least my drug dealers do.
yeah what BTG said
or just get them drunk or high and put trance on in the background so it sounds "good" to them
then .... i dunno.. just work it from there...see if anyone says" Hey what's this song playing?" or something..
trying to convert someone to trance will utimately take time unless they have an epiphany
You shouldn't get anyone to listen to anything. Simply play what u wanna play when u r in your car or at your house. If they like it, great.. if they dont.. who cares.
or you can do what i usually do
when u throw a party or something, just put trance as your background music
most of the time i get ppl saying "can u play some hip-hop?"
and i say "yeah sure its coming on next"
by that time theyre too drunk too know wats going on, and trance the rest of the night..
its a good ploy, especially if you can control the music. all the music in our apt comes from my 5 disc CD changer and Turntables in my room... its sweet.
Z-Trip spins everything from hip-hop to house in the same sets. There's a bridge of sorts. Also breakbeats and Drum 'n' Bass are similar genres to both.
Okay, here's what you do:
1. Get a brick
2. Put the brick underneath a cushion of your couch
3. Invite a friend over for tea
4. Sit his ass down on the couch.
5. Pretend to leave the room, but sneak around the couch and grab the brick.
6. Knock him or her unconcious
7. Put Dj Tiesto - Magik 6 on loud
BRAVO! Your friend is listening to trance!
When he starts to wake up, put his gangsta ass in the trunk and dump him into the dumpster at the nearest McDonalds.
This also works great for when your girlfriend is afraid to try anal sex
friends + X + trance = friends who like trance

I dont kno how to convert the gangstas though.
oooh yeah for the gangstas try this song by BT
Bt-knowledge of self
And for those friends of yours that like rock and metal, play some Crystal Method.
I always try to invite them to parties, so they can see what is all about.
Many of them had a good time, from that point they like it, but to listen to it everyday, like us TA's its hard to do.

i just found some videos on kazaa of some crazy raves and set by the biggest DJs in the world. I just kept the volume at zero. Once they saw it they wanted to go to these places. They kept thinkin how awesome it would be to go to some HUGE club or something and dance with some sexy female. Second they thought the lighting was sick. Once they warmed up a lot to the videos of the clubs and raves/parties, i would put the music on and they would start to like it. I just convinced them that they arent going to find a rap concert or rap/hiphop based club with that much energy. Eventually they got hooked.
i know it doesnt sound to fool proof but it worked for me. maybe i just have gullable friends. i dont know. give it a shot. If my idea and nobodys ideas work, you are kinda stuck, in which i now have two more suggestions.
1. Force the music on them till they like it.
2. give up and find friends that do like it.
