Card ethics

What are the protocols for what you do with cards that people send you for occasion like your birthday? I usually put them on my bureau for a couple of months and toss them. I used to tuck them away in a box, but lately I've gotten pragmatic and toss them, I kinda feel bad about it, maybe I'm just being to sentimental about crap. So what does everyone else do?

I have a shelf in my room where they go. I take them down a few days (or weeks) after the holiday has passed. They go in a box under my bed.

I used to be the same way, and then people started throwing the cards I made for them away, so I thought, "fuck it."

i throw them away almost immediately.

if its from a girlfriend then i'd probably keep it in my girlfriend box, but if its from someone else...keep up somewhere for a while, but you eventually have to toss it

if you don't you'll just become a pack rat...

if there's no money in them, they go in the trash right away.

Since cards are concrete material (not something you just see in a screen), they're so much more meaningful than any e-mail... you can see the person's handwriting and stuff... I don't know, it's more personal.

I don't know. They just disappear.

Yeah, and much more work getting rid of (finding a nearby trashcan, dumping the card there).

Emails are sooooo much less hassle in that aspect. That is, if my spamfilter doesn't do the work for me to begin with.
