-- FruityLoops question regarding samples.

FruityLoops question regarding samples.

If I have a really long sample, say from a wav file, how to I set it so it only sustains as long as there is a note.

What I mean is, I have a couple really long samples but I want them to end when the note ends, not when the sample ends.
Manually adjusting the volume won't work for me because I want to repeat the sample again before the sample would end.

Hope that makes sense and isn't too convoluted. Sorry if this is a repeat but I couldn't find the answer by searching.

Thanks.

the wav would have to be loopable (have loop points within it)

soundforge handles loop points and u can specify where to put them.

if u want to make a wav sample shorter, give it cut as to say. use the envelopes.

use the envelope function in the sampler, select the volume one

decrease the 'hold' time until the sample goes as short as you want it

a good question.. i've wondered that myself.. it's particularly annoying when you're doing a kick roll since the bass will become cluttered and the kick will be too soft after the 1st one..

All u have to do is enable the samplers volume envelope. This will make the sample stop when the note ends in the piano roll. U probably will want to set sustain to max and everything else to 0.
