question about an old turntable

Hi!

Can I play modern LP's on a ~30 years old DUAL 510 belt drive turntable, w/o problems?

It's this one: http://www.compassnet.com/concept/tables/510.htm

I'd like to start DJ:ing sometime and since we have this turntable at home (still live with my parents) I thought I could buy my first vinyl and try it out, just for fun.

that would be fine for listening to records on butunless you have another TT and a mixer then i dont think youll get very far unfortunately but go get some vinyls anyways

Yeah, sure, as long as it plays 33 and 45 rpm...

It can play 33 & 45 rpm, and I only intend to use this antique for listening to records.

Thanks for your replies! Now I'll go get some vinyls...

Just make sure the needle is relatively new so it doesn't fuck up your LPs, other than that you should be fine.

I think the needle is ok, I recall the turntable has been used atleast once during the last 6 months, and that worked fine.

Yea it will be fine, all a record player needs to do is play at 33 or 45 rpm, I wouldn't play them very often though, with it being that old, I guess it would probably have some high record wear, so don't play it over and over, now and then should be fine, oh and DON'T scratch at all even if its a little one, these old players weren't designed for that, same goes for the needle, you could have the needle eat away some sound quality if you did that, but I'm sure you will be fine though.

and since your starting to buy vinyl now, I should say, Welcome to the addiction, it would of been cheaper if you became a crackhead.

I would not worry about that as long as the stylus is in good shape. Dual made quality decks it is not like that is a cheap turntable.

Oh ok, I don't know much about old decks, so I just made an assumption just to be on the safe side, thanks for the heads up.
