Anyone has review of Armin @ Aria?

Comments?? Did u guys meet him before?

thanks

Posted by Wisnia on Jul-03-2004 17:18:

First of all I would like to start off my review by saying that Armin is one of my favorite trance dj. Ever since i saw him for the first time in october (dag and aria) I have always loved his performances. This one was no exception. He played the sickest tracks including some kick ass classics. The people all around seemed very into it and sure seemed to be having a blast. The VJs did an amazing job imho and it set a perfect environment for me to party in (props to that).

The only bad part was that the A/Cs did not do a good job. At some moments in Armin's set, it was unbearably hot (not as bad as tiesto, but comparable to some extent).

Even thought there was a lot of people, I was still able to dance and have fun with some of u guys. If it got any fuller it wouldnt be as enjoyable.

I will not forget this night for awhile and i cant with for his return.

P.S Big thanks to Jean Louis for hooking me up with all the tickets, and for Malek's amazing camera skills

wow, what a night. Armin never ceases to impress me, he started off with some prog then went into trance and even played some techno. I think the nite reached its climax when he dropped Adagio for Strings the crowd went completely insane. It's true what Wisnia said...it was sooo damn hot but still there were those cool spots under the vents. It was good meeting some new people even tho we weren't really introduced i still had an amazing time with you drunk bastards drinkin that vodka from the gatorade bottle hhahaha. As for steve well...he is always drunk haha. Thx Malek for letting us into the VIP you always pull thru and thats why I love you! (No, Im not gay)I can't wait to see those pics, not only of the party but of the girl in orange omg...All in all a sick nite with lots of energy from the crowd and alot of hot girls.

Just to give those that missed it an idea of what he played.

Sarah Mclachlan - World on Fire (Junkie XL Remix)
Tiesto - Adagio for Strings
Firewall - Sincere (Pulser Remix)
Sasha - Wavy Gravy (??? Remix)
AvB vs Tiesto - Yet Another Suburban Train
Roland Llinkenberg vs James Holden and Julie Thompson - Bounce at Nothing
AvB - Communication
AvB - Blue Fear
AvB - Burned with Desire (??? Remix)

I'll try and remember more later. I had a great time guys!

(I was told that Melly B was there...muahahahha)

Great night, not as many people as I expected, but that will happen when you charge $40...retarded. So there was lots of room to dance, the heat was bearable and the ladies

I thought he played really really slow. I would have liked to have had it around 5bpm faster. Other than that, I was happy.

A few more tracks...might add more as I remember them:

Solar Stone - Seven Cities (Armin van Buuren Remix)
Signum - Timelord
Signum - First Strike (Signum Signal 2004 Remix)
Thomas Datt - 2v2 (John Askew Remix)
Vadim Zhukov - Exit (Robert Nickson Remix)
Factoria - A Legends Legacy
Roland Klinkenberg Monday Groove
Push - Strange World

Alec...LAY OFF THE BOOZE...fuck man.

are you serious??
you think there was not A LOT of people!!
well, personally....I think it was the most crowded night at Aria for a long time except for those Tiesto nights....it was jam pack behind the booth and on the side of the dancefloor....and it was facking hot!
well.....its nice to see that it doesnt seem to bother you......

I never said there was not a lot of people, just less than I expected . There was virtually no lineup at 3:30, and I found acres of room to dance. The heat was noticeable, but thats to be expected.

Its just that compared to Ottawa on the 30th, it seemed like a residents night. I thought the amount of people was perfect...the only time I got pushed around was when alec was dancing like an idiot.

Im glad I came, I think this set was slightly better than the set he played in Ottawa.

Very fun night.

I was exhausted on the way there, but a lil booze and wake-ups kept me awake until the end of Armin's set.

I had a blast dancing with everyone on the dancefloor, tho I found myself rather unsociable.
Sorry ppl about that.

Nice meeting new TA's that nite, there was quite a few of us.

I slept like a baby for 8 hrs afterwards too , it's great.

I hope everyone had as much fun as I did.
Sorry if I didn't say bye to everyone, but you were all in the VIP and it's not like the bouncer was ready to let us in anytime soon.

Seven Cities,u guys sure this was armin's remix, cuz i thought it was the original, guess the one i have on my cpu is the original then or there's another remix that i dunno of. Anyways, crazy night,Preach was wicked, really started the night superbly, and then armin, unbelievable once again,i had a freakin great time, heck i was jumping over everyone's head,i was the crazy dude in yellow nike sleeveless shirt and white pants,i think i was the only one dressed like that and i was pretty hard to miss,so if anyone wants to punch me next time,u'll know who i am. For the ladies, well there wasnt that many hot ladies,of course there was, maybe i was too busy jumping like nutz to notice. Thanks Louis for the reduce, and besides Louis,i just saw Malek pass by,and dats it,je t'ai pas vu Sim!!!(j'avoue que j'ai pas ete derriere le booth ,sorry ) .Anyways,im off now,i just came home like 20 mins ago, went straight to see what was going on on rene-levesque after leaving Aria at around 10am,no i ate breakfast first at faubourg ste-catherine at this italien place, dont remember the name, then went on rene-levesque, it was pretty intense stuff,it was neat, and now im dead tired.

Good times last night... nice to see the usual suspects!

As for the beats, ya it's not preach's 'usual'style, but it's nice to hear a range of styles throughout the set, and I thought it set the mood up properly! The crowd was really into it, and seemed to keep that up for as long as I was there anyway.

Didn't dig Armin's tunes that much, but I expected it would be a bit slow for my taste. Still nice to listen to some trance every now and then. By the way.. I'm not very current with trance producers or tracks, but were quite a few of those tracks he played released at least a year ago? 'cause quite a few sounded familiar to me, just curious.

Posted by Psy-Trancer on Jul-03-2004 21:59:

ummm armin did play erase techno im pretty sure, the first hard tune he dropped when he switched to tehcno
