Probspot / Rico Soarez - Most consistent producer of 2004?

If you had asked me who Rico Soarez (or even Probspot for that matter) was at eh beginning of this year, I could honestly say that I wouldn't have a clue! Now in the last month or so it seems I always have one of his tracks on repeat during the day and I�m not getting anymore bored from when I first heard each track, if anything I�m growing more and more attached to each song, listening to the amazing depths and complexness of each track.

Blueberry was undoubtedly the track that first caught my attention of probspot. He�s developed an absolutely amazingly unique style that would be best described in my eyes as driving melodic prog. The tune caught my ears instantly, and I�ve been following each of his releases since. When I first heard �Foreplay� in the Above and Beyond essential mix at the beginning of this month I went crazy at what a killer summer anthem I�d heard. It�s been stuck on my playlist since that night, and will probably be there at least until the end of the summer!

More recently I�ve been listening to �TV dinner� and the Probspot remixes of both �Powerplant - Turn It Into Gold� and �Endre � I Kill For You�. Is it me or is Rico�s work just getting better and better!?

I sincerely hope that he sticks to his complex, unique, in depth style of productions, as there are very few producers these days that are consistant with quality productions. I really look forward to hearing more from Rico and thank him for the quality tunes he�s produced so far! Definitely my producer of 2004 so far.

What does everyone else think of his music?!

p.s. does anyone know about any release info for the remix of powerplant (i.e. label, date etc)

No offence, but it's not that hard to stay consistent when you don't stray away from your formula, using same percussion, synths, structure, etc.

What I'd like to hear is something different, not just a bunch of songs that are the same with different hooks (they're good tracks nevertheless, but he's not going that extra mile).

One of the few new producers whose work I respect is Mark Otten. His tracks are unique and fresh, and most importantly, don't sound like clones of eachother.

I was going to say DJ Hyper but his mix of Pink's God is a dj was utter filth but he has completely over the top besides that

I have to agree, alot of Probspot's tunes are very similar and consistant. Don't get me wrong, I love listening to his music, but something different would be nice.

i think like any producer he keeps certain elemets to his tracks the same, and that keeps it as his style. but i really can't see how you can say foreplay, blueberry, TV dinner sound the same... yes i can identify it is a rico track, but that's it, i didnt know what to expext in terms of melody etc etc. i'm sure he will develop other alias's for other sorts of style's in the future anyway. I respect your opinions none the less thoug, each to their own!

EDIT: look at the likes of markus schulz, all his coldharbour material is very alike, and althoug now im starting to get a little sick of it, each track is sculptured individually, i dont think it would be fair to say he re-uses chunks over and over though. however i have seen enough of this style for the time being. i couldnt have all the coldharbour remixes on repeat!

The difference being that Markus does not use the same bassline in every track, the same drums, the same snares, etc.

There are ofcourse elements in each producers' track that marks it as their own, but when you start regurgitating the same elements over and over, it becomes a little tiring, IMO.

Just look at some other well known artists out there, Armin, Ferry, Tiesto, each has their own flavour, but the works aren't necessarily copies of the one before it.

hyper has a nice running for what person that is gonna have the main focus this year, but, i do think tho that title is like set & fit for leama & moor, these guys have spitten out quality all this year, and they still haven't released shades or red/shades of blue yet

yeah, definately agree on leama and moor to, i wouldnt mind hearing some more original material from them though. their remixing is amazing but i want some tracks written solely by them before i make my mind up!

Sure if it ain't broke don't fix it but I rather hear some different stuff at times from some producers, rather than the same structure, same riffs, same everything.
