Xone 92: Linear or Rotary?
Hi everyone. I plan on buying my DJ equipment next month and just had a few questions. Just so you know, I usually like to buy quality and not have to upgrade later. I am looking at the Xone 92 mixer. My question is though do I get the linear fader or rotarty fader version? I would be a trance DJ with a few house mixes here and there (90% trance).
I've heard that you can switch out on the rotarty version a linear fader but cannot do the same on the linear fader version. Is that true? If that is true, should I get the rotary so I have both options? Which is better? Aren't the majority of mixers that trance DJs use linear fader?
Thanks for any input,
Keith
people say rotary gives better control which makes sense but imo i think its just personal preferance, if you can try each one and figure out which one you feel for more
i have owned both and prefer the knob......keep in my mind thou i don't like the knobs themselves....but i have to pick between the 2 i take the knob only because i have always pretty much spun on knobs and mostly use xfader now......whatever your more comfortable with...fader is also a bit cheaper
sent u a pm also
I'd get the rotary version. But again, it really is personal opinion.
Is there no difference in how the sounds are mixed in (the curve)?

95% (if not more) of dj mixers are linear faders. if you are just starting out i would recomend that just so you will be a little more comfortable on other people/club mixers. i am also thinking about the xone :92 and was gonna get the linear model. rotarys are definitly cool, definitly give you great control, and have that nice analog feel that i love. but play with both if you have the opportunity and see which one you like the feel of better. the xone :92 is an awesome mixer no matter which setup you get with it.
