War or don't

Ok this is what I think and I want your opinions.
I think that the Us are planning an attack and it will hit Afghanistan within three days. I think this will be an short war with a sad ending for Afghanistan. I think that is just the beginning and Irak will follow Afganistan. They are going to be dabgerous, coz they support Afghanistan. It doesn't scares me now,because of the distence between Holland and Afghanistan, but I think this will be a nasty battle.

I think it will be a short battel, but not as short as many think. Even though we did have that famous '4 day invasion and takeover' with VERY little casualties, this is gonna be different because the Afghani's are gonna fight back and fight back hard....plus they have the land advantage, being it will be hard for us to invade by foot considering the milage between the border and the capital, etc......I just hope pakistan will still allow us to use their airspace to our advantage....anyways, it wont be too long a war (considerning NATO is also backing us up still)...well im out, later

I sure hope there isnt a war..cuz I read today that if pakistan lets teh US use its airspace, then Afghanistan will attack Pakistan, and that would be NO GOOD.

Yes that is just what I mean. This whole battle is gonna be big, coz Afghanistan will attack Pakistan and the US. Irak will help Afghanistan. And what have these country's? Irak has maybe nuclear bombs and Pakistan too. That scares the shit out of me.

We will drop a nuclear bomb on the region.

OK, this is what I figure is going to happen. We are going to have a conventional war which we will win, but then Afghanistan will attack Pakistan too. This is when I think the war will either be dragged out or go nuclear. If we completely destroy Afghanistan, which we will, I'm not sure if Iraq will enter the war.

Their noses are still bloody from then last time.

It just comes down to how desisive we can beat the Talibon. That will make a statement to world not to mess with us.

Anyway i was looking into this whole mess and i found this article about Usa's arsenal....seems like they have been loading up since the cold war. Can hardly belive some of these weapons...well im off to bed, check it out.

I dunno for sure whats going to happen, but its not going to be pretty. I'm all for the U.S attacking the "bad guys" not all together everyone but whatever happens I think were going to regret something....

dont be so sure about the shoet battle
the afganies people are very well trained garila wariors (trained by the U,S BTW)

and this war can drag and drag if more arab countries dicide to join,
so i wish to god that the battle will be short with a small nu' of casualties.

woooahhh there.... hold you horses... conventional war agiants afgan is not a good thing, remember these guys dont fight conventionaly. you will end up with another vietnam on your hands. dont forget afgan beat russian during the peak of the cold war when the red army was at its strongest. the taliban will fight by guerilla warfare. the best method agianst this is a stragic war: air strikes, cruise missle, commando teams (delta force and seals), intellegence. planned out stragic raids, not a war.

Elite soldiers will carry a new two-barrelled rifle called the objective individual combat weapon, which can even wipe out opponents hidden in trenches or behind vehicles. The lower barrel fires Nato-standard 5.56mm ammunition allowing commandos to use bullets off the bodies of downed allies. But the upper barrel can hurl 20mm shells more than half a mile to explode in the air over the target and unleash a rain of death. I hope that if there ends up being a war it is short because I am 16 and when you turn 18 you have to register for the draft and thats something im not too happy about

in my opinion, i think we (the united states) will win, mainly cause of NATO, but I have a buch more points about it. It will be fought mainly with special forces, and maybe once in awhile some airstrikes. ill be on this thread for some time before thurs. and no, im acutally not ready for my debate hehehe

that rifle or the oicw is issued to elite military personal ie seals rangers green berets and such but im not sure how extensivly that little article about us weaponery is a little outdated it doesnt feature our newest jet fighter the F22 raptor which makes the f 16 look like a paper airplane i know a war is emminet and it wont be a short war as some have said but it wont be like any war weve been in before its not like if we get bin ladin its over because theres 20 guys waiting to take his place and another 20 behind them granted i want to go in and bomb the hell out of them but thats not gonna solve the problem it will help but this guys has many followers who disslike the freedoms we have and to peeps in europe it got a a little feeling this will be heading your way because of the similarities in our society these extremist want a whole world of islam and they want it to be how it was a 1000 years ago do some research on these guys the talibon and read what they do to their own people its sickening they hold weekly public execution on friday nights in the old olympic stadium in kabul i saw a woman get shot in the head for being seen in public with a man who she was not releated too sick sick sick

I turned 18 two months ago and had to register ah well, who knows if the draft will be reinstated

anybody who thinks this is gonna be a "short war" is greatly mistaken...many experienced ppl. such as the former national security advisor and even the former CIA director came on TV today specifically saying that it WON'T be a short war...

it mite be *visibly* short, meaning that the bombings or major assaults may not go on indefinitely...but this war will take many forms, such as diplomatic and financial pressure on rogue nations, many covert operations, assasinations and so on...those could last for many years, just as the cold war did...of course i don't think it will be as serious tho, as that...

as regards pakistan's nuclear capabilities. altho it is true that they do possess nuclear weapons, they still do not possess the capability to launch LONG-RANGE inter-continental missiles and as such the US does not have to fear a nuclear reprisal in the event of a war with pakistan...and no, such technology cannot just be developed overnight or even within several days...it takes yrs. and yrs...

as for the draft...yeah i also turned 18 in july...it seems that if u're enrolled full-time in college and are under 24, they don't draft you...

i for one hope there isn't any major war...

Oh and i think AnotherWay83 is right...don't think it will be a short war..the people in afghanistan don't seem like they will turn bin laden over...saw an interview yesterday and this dood was like..."we will phuck those americans"...(yeah right).

I agree with some of the points made here.

This "war" will span out for years and years...secret military operations, assasinations, spying and intelligence operations will be going on for a looooooong time.

The short term "war" that we will all see on our televisions will be composed to Afganistan getting the shit rocked out of it.

I have never been one to say that I want to fight in a war, but after all this happened I changed my views. Before I alway said that if there was a draft then I would either break my leg or move to Toronto. That was a cowardly remark. I now would go in a heartbeat...to fight wherever my country needs me to fight. I would do it with no hesitation, and would feel damn proud to do so.

It is sad for The Afganistan civilians. Sure the American civilians are killed too, but I think that isn't a reason to kill those civilians too, but it is the only way I think. This ''war'' can't be solved without many victoms. It is against my nature too kill all those people. Those Taliban people, those should all die, coz they protect Osama Bin Laden, but normal people don't even know what s happening.
Sad this whole story.
